My preventative approach is to use the very best class of oil available...

Type V ester-based 5w30 oil. I use Fuchs Silkolene Pro-S, and also put it in my classic 911. Much better than 'standard' type IV PAO type oils and not much more expensive. If esters are good enough for jet engines, in that sort of environment, they are good enough for me. Just ask OilMan at Opie, these guys know what they are talking about.

The long hydrocarbon chains in the semi-synthetic Magnatec oil recommended by LR break up well before you would want them to. Great for LR's fuel consumption figures. Not so good for big ends and turbos!

Just my thoughts for what they're worth.

thanks man but No, those files i have. am looking for a document that has information as bore size, tolerance, crankshaft journal sizes, tolerances, etc.
Basically information that you need when you are doing an actual engine rebuild.

old LR manuals used to have all this information. there is a document that gives such information for the 3lt but not the 2.7 lt one.
