Converting a commercial to car..

As above.. Thinking about purchasing either a D3 or D4 commercial through business and converting to car myself.. .

Question is, how difficult can it be? Are the mounting points for seat belts, middle row seat mounts, and rear seat mounting points all in place? Could I just buy a breaker and literally swap and bolt parts over?

Although not a UK spec Disco, i did it the otherway around..
MY 2006 D3... all the mounting points are integrated in the metal of the body....
Wiring looms can be different although... speakers, heated rear seats, such details...

BUT what is your goal? Converting it with more seats than technically allowed, i presume that a commercial has only 2 registered seats.... can give tax and insurance issues?

Well maybe the UK has different rules about that...than my country...
when we change such things in The Netherlands... more seats than registrerd... the fine’s can be huge... very huge..
 Best regards
Harold

Its not to difficult but does take longer than you think.

Electric windows have all the wiring and parts in place but they fill the connectors with silicon to stop you plugging them in.
I had to change my window motors but cant remember why now.
The rest is simply nuts and bolts.

There is quite a market to do this the other way round so younshould get good money for the bits you take out.

You need plenty of time to get all of the fixings they use out. They are designed to drive in, and are not fun to get out!
Once you ungum the window channel and motor, which have been filled with black sealant. You will need the little printed circuit like connector for joining the loom to the motor. eBay sellers appear to cater for this need.
Have had two D4 commercials which are in effect five seaters, just declare them as such with insurers. Not yet had any issues. Hopefully it stays this way?
