Cooper ST and STTs - but this time with snow

Sorry if this subject has been done to death but I would be grateful for advice as to whether I should buy 245 70 17 in ST or STT.

I have a set of road tyres so whatever I choose will be used for driving the 600 miles up to the Cairngorms , and then up and down rough tracks ( deep mud and ruts , rocks etc ) to my and friends' houses.

Most visits are in the winter and it almost always snows ( which can be deep ). The local roads are often snow covered as well. I also would envisage not swopping back to road tyres when I go ski ing in France .

My dealer has used each on his LR and says ST noisier on road !

Anyone any experience of each in snow - both on road and off road ?

Many thanks,

John

Don't write off the regular tyres, I drive to the Cairngorms every few weeks and just need road tyres. These tyres are great on snow & rocks and have done quite a few greenlaneing trips on the standard 17" Contis.

I run ST's permanently - a bit of road noise but not unduly irritating.

18 Zero's are tucked up in the Garage for when I dispose

It had nothing to do with tyres, you were dying for a pee i heard Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter , so you drove up the rocks as fast as you could with no regard for the car just to go behind a suitable tree at the top Rolling with laughter

Forgot about that!!! I also think I did that bit with my eyes closed, either from beeing busting or waiting for the rocks to hit the underside of the car!!! Big Cry Big Cry

Thanks all for your advice.

DSL - those pics are similar to the tracks to my house - and the Goodyear Wranglers were fine at first but after 20,000 miles struggled in mud and snow.
