Corrosion on wheel inserts |
|
Has anyone else got corrosion showing on the central insert cap on the D3's wheels ? I mean the one with the Land Rover logo.
All 4 of mine are blistering and discolouring around the edges. Not at all pretty. The alloy wheels themselves are starting to show some pitting as well. Not great for a vehicle that is just over 1 year old - and I suspect it will look 'orrid after another year or so.
Do you think Land Rover should replace items showing premature ageing ? Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Do you use any kind of wheel cleaner on them? I am sure that is the first thing that LR will ask.
I don't think that LR wheels are great quality anyway, the actual finish seems very thin.
My friend had a Toyota Celica that he didn't look after and after nearly 3 years the wheels looked a state, quite badly corroded, he mentioned it at service time and within 2 weeks the wheels were replaced under warranty.
Certainly worth a go with your dealer.

yes noticed the same problem, the caps are actually just plastic, simply replaced mine as no possibility of restoring, wheels are ok though no problem there.

My wheels are a bit of a mess too. 35500 miles, and they are very pitted. When I go to the USA in April, I will have them restored whilst the car is off the road.
I think that a more durable finish will really help.

Ditto... used to be able to clean the marks off them but now they won't budge. Gonna try and get some under warrantee and see what they say.
