Crank & Camshaft - Can go at any stage??

Just thinking.. Reading about the above has made my head hurt! So if they do go and they have on D4 & D3 my question is, are we just holding out for lady luck..

Is it just another waiting game for the same problems to reoccur on the re con engine that was replaced with the broken one??
Does any one know of lighting striking twice??

Question Question

Yes, it is exactly like that.

I’d suggest obtaining a new engine (= JLR) rather than a reconditioned engine with an unknown past.

Even with a new engine from JLR you are still in the same boat! Confused

As far as I know, it comes with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Search the forums but there are reports of recon engines failing after 500 km or so.

Anyway, a lot of people won’t have the crankshaft fail and are completely unaware of the possibility of such a catastrophic event. Thumbs Up Yes, it sucks if it happens to you. Mr. Green

If the worst happens to a 2005 SE Auto, don’t even think about fixing her, it’s economic madness. Even with a blown engine she’s worth far more as a pile of parts. Stripping, it’s da future. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
