Crankshaft
I am looking at getting a MY2015 D4 HSE. Are there any documented incidences from members here of the crankshaft failing in a 2015 D4?

Was Wiggs and MY15?
Irrespective of the above, I don’t think anything has changed in the engines themselves, so no MY will be “clear”.
Same issue in the RR as well.

I haven't even heard that it's changed in the D5.

There have been improvements to the engines ...though the issue hasn't been completely eradicated ...just make sure it has been dealer serviced and has an LR warranty

Yep, the day I can't get a decent warranty for Dee is the day she goes.

Thanks DG. The car is not 2 years old until December so there is the balance of the LR warranty plus I will extend it.

Beware of the extended LR warranty, it's not by LR (Car Care Plan with LR branding) and they have recently classed engine failure as a manufacturing defect and have declined to pay for it in the case. http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic162750.html?highlight=

Thanks DSL. Normally use Warranty Direct. But, Skoda Kodiak looking more favourable having read the posts above. Only thing is it doesn't have a winch whereas the proposed D4 does.
Decisions, decisions...!

I've got WD on mine (one year in on 3 year policy), will hopefully renew for another 3 years after that but will prob sell it with the last year's cover. Well that's the plan. I did have a discussion with SWMBO re what would I get if the D4 magically vanished tomorrow, the Kodiaq was mentioned a few times as an option. Well by me anyway.

Good to know for future but the D4's still on the drive and SWMBO would clock any Carwow emails coming through.
