Sorry, I never closed this off.

I tried everything previously mentioned in this thread but no joy with a permanent fix. Eventually I succumbed and had the Instrument Pack changed which completely resolved the issue.

Probably something you could do yourself if you had the correct diagnostic equipment to identify the issue. At best I had a 1 in 3 guess with the tool I was using. The garage diagnostic gave me much more confidence before paying out for an expensive item that gets coded to the vehicle.
