Creaking Drivers Seat

Has anyone else had this minor problem. I first noticed it when i was getting out of the vehicle that it had a little creak from its internals. Ive now got hold of it and it does rattle/creak.

As ive said, its only minor but the passenger side is absolutely solid.

Just as an aside, the car now has just over 1k miles under its belt and it is running sweater every day. It has finally won over my other half who still missed the XC90 and now we have to fight for the keys.
We are also getting an average of 25mpg and its on a gradual increase from last month.

All in all, i wouldnt swap it for anything (well you know what i mean). Laughing

Sounds as though the mounting rail fixings need tightening. You may also notice it when cornering.

I had this problem on my Disco, the seat also seemed a bit loose. Our Dealer advised I need a new seat frame. Turned out the frame they ordered in for me was for the passenger seat so they ended up replacing the whole thing. I was chuffed.

No more creaking!

I have noticed this happening on my car. The seat seems secure enough but when I pull away the drivers seat moves back very slightly and forward when I brake.

I was wondering if this play was deemed acceptable due to the make up of the seat motors. Confused

I was out in it tonight and the creeking is getting worse.
The rest of the car is rattle free and this is now starting to occupy too much of my time when im driving so i think i will pay the Dealer a visit on Tuesday.

I hope that i not being too fussy but i will get to the bottom of it. Embarassed (for the attempt at a joke)

Ive located the creak ! Very Happy

Its on the right hand bolster on the drivers seat base. When you press on it, something pops in and then pops out again giving the sound. Obviuosly, whenever your body moves it makes the creaking sound.

The seat itself is securely fixed.

I will show it to the Dealer on Tuesday and see what can be done

Gareth had this one - he showed us in the Goyt Valley - whole seat was moving - I understand he had it sorted under warranty

Its almost like pressing a button on the squab.

In fact, i first noticed this sound a couple of weeks ago only when getting out of the vehicle as i slid across the seat.

Im in no doubt that it will get sorted but iam happy that ive located the problem.

Update

Credit where credit is due.

Took the car into the dealer without an appointment and nothing could have been too much trouble.
10 Mins later i was back behind the wheel with a creak free seat.

It was, diagnosed as a loose seat runner which has now been duly tightened and all is again, superbly quiet and peaceful.

I know you would expect to be treated this way after spending x amount of hard earned on a car but its 'comforting' when you do get good service etc etc without resorting to the stamping of feet.

One very happy owner/customer Laughing
