CTEK mxs 10 bargain and a few questions...

Just ordered myself a CTEK MXS10 from Halfords (using my trade card) for £93.20, down from £129.99

I thought that was a good price and i should share it with the forum in case anyone is looking for one.

Anyway, I now have a couple of associated questions....

I've got loads of bits in the garage, so may make a 13 pin towing plug charger for it (pins 9 and 13 if i recall correctly?) However, having read on here about someone's misfortune of taking it for a drive down the lanes Rolling with laughter, it's put me off a bit and I'm thinking I may just use the comfort connector it comes with or maybe the cigarette lighter plug, so it's obvious when I get in the motor and i don't take it for a drive.

Question is... I read on here that I shouldn't connect directly to the battery -'ve and instead i should earth it on another suitable point for the bms to notice the charge?

If I was fitting the comfort connector, should I fit that to the +'ve and a suitable earth or is it safe to fit to the +'ve and -'ve battery posts?

As always, thanks in advance.

Being able to quickly plug in via the towing socket is really handy. Just make up something to put on the steering wheel to remind you when you get in, and keep it with the CTEK.

I put the plastic cover from the towing sockets on the driver's seat when I am charging to remind me to remove the charger before driving off

Worked so far Very Happy

I put an anderson connection into the lead so when the wife decides to step over the cable and drive blindly to work its only an anderson plug I need to replace and not the Ctek Rolling with laughter
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I'll make a tow plug cable then as I've got most of the bits lying around, so just need the connection to the ctek which is only a few quid.

Not a bad idea using the cover plate and/or a label to remind me. Hearing the sound of it dragging behind the motor and then the sharp realisation of what that noise is would be rather upsetting. Laughing

Hi

I added the 12 s socket and charge my batteries through it

Added a towing socket onto the front of the house, drilled through the wall and put my CTEK charger in the hallway , also added a fuse box

So when I pull onto my drive I just plug my 3m of the trailer wire I made up in and turn it on in the hallway

I shall be printing that sign out. Cheers! Thumbs Up

Knowing my wife, she'd try and look past the sign and still drive off. Rolling with laughter
