| D3 has developed a fault won’t rev and white smoke out exhau |

Hi I’m wondering if any one could possibly help with this fault or has any ideas where to start.
Here’s the story, I have a 56 plate d3 and the car has had it fair amount of faults which I have always had fixed but I now have a new one .
The car was running fine I just completed about a 30 mile journey to pick up my wife and the car was fine running normal and I switched the car off while I waited for her and when I went to start the car again it started for maybe a second then there was a small pop and then the car refused to start . I’ve since had the car recovered and the aa man said there was a egr fault code but was un able to start it . The car is now with my mechanic who has identified it needing a new aux belt and pulley (not that i think this is the non start issue) that has been replaced, egr valves deleted and wires to the actuator valve fixed as there was signs of damage, now the car will start but not rev and if it does not above 1.5-2k and when will rev up white smoke comes out the exhaust.
I’m hoping some one can help because I like the car and don’t want to have to give up on it but don’t want to keep throwing money at it for it not to run
