Here's a good way to lose LOADS of money!
Run the tank to almost empty then put £60+ quid of PETROL in!
Drive the car for about 4 miles til ALL of the warning lights start going mad and the car grinds to a halt!
Phone LR Assist, they tell you that it will be over an hour and a half before they can get to you! (I'm 2 miles off the M6).
Can't give me a replacement vehicle cos it's my fault!
Can't be looked at by a mechanic til Monday!
I've got to pay for drainage of tank ( there goes £60 of petrol) and all other bits of repair and investigation!
And if the engine's knackered - it Wont be covered by warranty!
And finally, if it ever gets going again - it'll need £60+ of the RIGHT fuel! engine. wheels. seats. glass windows. stuff.

Sorry to hear this - if you want a shock do a bit of a forum search and the true costs will be all to clear.
On a brighter note, hope you have fully comp insurance "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

tezzo you poor sod
Give AA Fuel Assist a call , they will come to you and drain out , they even work Saturdays
They will drain , put an additive in , put some DIESEL in and get it running again for you.

as there are if's and maybe's at this stage I would wait and see what LR say. You wouldn't want to jeopardise any potential warranty situation remaining. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

What Tawnyowl said, even if you can get it to a backstreet garage, have them drain the full system, fit a new fuel filter and some injector cleaner through it, full tank of DIESEL and see if it runs... If it doesnt, it still needs diesel anyway so not like its going to waste
Sorry, couldnt help myself
EDIT: Wonder what would happen if you did the above, and took it to a dealer complaining of poor running, without telling them about the misfuel? My D3 Build Thread

It's already been reported to LRA though. TBH the motor still has 2 years or so full warranty remaining surely you would want to do things the proper way to protect that 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Being a self induced fault I don't think LR would pay for it tbh which is why AA fuel Assist would have been a good option but understand what your saying DG , it's now been logged with LRA so they would know about it .
See what LRA say when they turn up , if you gotta pay then get recovered home and perhaps try AA Fuel Assist 1st as would be much cheaper

Yup. Already told LR Assist! But . . . AA man Who's doing the recovery for LRA says LR might agree to AA doing the fuel drain!
There might be a glimmer of hope!
And I'll check the insurand!
Cheers all! Watch this space! engine. wheels. seats. glass windows. stuff.

My work colleague did this in a RRS last year,
He made it back to camp before the thing cut out ! only a few miles from the fill up,
Immediately realising what had gone wrong he went to speak to a mech who did the following !
Poured 8 litres of engine oil straight into the tank, filled it to the brim with red diesel, took off the fuel filter poured out the petrol poured engile oil in the fuel filter topped it up with red diesel and away it went ?
Maybe he caught it before the bings and bongs went off ?
But it worked and its still running now........................... it did smoke white for a bit though.
I,m not saying this is right or wrong however, there was no fuel to didpose of and he reckons it went better after the incident than it did before
Its a TDV8 though not a TDV6 !

Well, AA man got us home ( on behalf of LRA).
Giving the neighbours something to wake-up for!
Sggested SWMBO gets the spanners out but she's a bit reluctant. She might be more cooperative in the morning!
And I bet that if it had DIESEL in it would have been TWOCed tonight! engine. wheels. seats. glass windows. stuff.
