Certainly do, about an 1/8 inch at the edge, disc face looks like the moon as well. Do you reckon it's worth having a pop at LR for a new set Question

Certainly unusual. My front pads lasted 25k, mine is auto, and it tows a caravan regularly. I also don't hang around or preserve my brakes! I have also been off road a few times.

I replaced my own front pads. They were down to 4mm. The discs were showing negligible (about 1.5mm) wear, and were even and smooth with very little scoring and no pitting or runout (I checked with a DTI).

I would be questioning the wear rate of your brakes 12500 is very rapid wear, and the fact that the discs are shot too makes me wonder if you live on a beach or something?

Here is a how to.http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1511

You are in Scotland and in the north east. There are a lot of extremely long hills and many bends, is that correct.

Long hills, very narrow and twisty roads Twisted Evil In fact ideal Disco country, 'her who must be obeyed' drives it more than me and she certainly 'explores' the potential of the V6 Very Happy Even so, 12.5K for a set of pads and discs I think is taking the P!
No such trouble with the Defender though.
Strong letter to LR customer services is in order me thinks......

Well funny you should mention that 'cos me and the dealer have already fell out BIG TIME!
The 2nd row seat mechanism came off in me hand (oo 'er missus!!) and they managed to trash the rear door card when they fixed it.
Took them 3 months to get a replacement.
I 'binned' the main dealer and use an LR approved local dealer who also looks after my 90. He only works on LR's, nothing else, third of the price as well........

Not noticed the ABS kicking in except when I really try. Only used the HDC and programs infrequently as well.
Mind you the ABS has been working overtime the last couple of days with the snow and ice but I suspect the discs/pads were 'donald' before that......

The HDC is actually ABS and will wear the brakes dramatically. Even their use at slow speeds is dramatic. I have to say, whilst it is a guess, I think there may be a little harsh braking together with the unavoidable long descents in your area. Ask your LR dealer to ask LR technical if there are any harder brake pads, but take their advice as the car is a very heavy one and obviously you live in a heavy use brake area, so the wear although excessive is probably about normal.

Thanks for the advice BN I'll ask them, I think they owe big time after the fiasco with the rear seats.
I'll probabaly also have to teach the wife how to use the gearbox in manual mode, that may help.........

It is a very heavy car and the auto box is very good, just try to brake a little earlier in any case because the car gives a deceptively small car drive feel. The brakes are used 3 times as much in an auto as a manual.
