If you need it activating, then even a dealer won't be able to help.

You'll need someone with a Faultmate MSV-2 or Autologic - I don't know of any other systems that you configure this in the CCF.

HDC works both in 1 std and reverse i would not come back down the hill in neutral. i was always shown to come down in gear (i have done this both in the Maunal and auto D3 and a manual defender), this means you have the engines compression aswell as the HDC working also if the wheels start to skid use a quick sharp on and off the throttle will bring back under control. having said that reversing down hills still makes me very nervous and i always have sense of relief at the bottom

I would definatly practice before going off road,

Had a buttclenching experience at the weekend,just about to crest a hill when the momentum ran out and we started to slide back down straight away,managed to get it into reverse quite quikly but everything after that happened so fast,inside the car it seemed as though we were doing 20-30 Mph backwards with the front end trying to overtake,thought at one moment it was going to catch and roll but stepped back in,i think in the panic that ensued i accidently hit the accelerator and things started to come back under control,we eventually came to a halt at the bottom with me exiting the car rapidly to check my undercrackers and having a large dose of nicoteen.

In hind sight i should have got on the gas straight away but you live(only just)and learn.

In the mud I always turn off DSC, actually most of the time.... It cuts my engine power when I need it the most! Even when it's off, I've seen the light turn on! Argh! Big Cry

Also, just to add, I have gone down VERY steep mud hills, and used reverse to stop the car! Needed to clean tires off the mud so just floored it! Had I not done this, I would have ended up hitting a tree with the ARB bumper with enough force to explode the airbags! Quite a save!... Thumbs Up
