My D3 projects
Hi
Many thks as always for the great help, would always prefer to ask and getting it right first time
Indeed I’ll order a couple of cans seeing I’ve gone this far, don’t want to take the panel out with peeling paint
Also got a second hand front bumper to do so this will at least be a good test project
Will also ensure I read the full application instructions ref cleaners etc
Thks again

Thks , Indeed I thought about a new panel but will cost half to clean and spray this one , hopefully will last a while before it goes grey again
At least we can all then come up with a refurbished system for these panels and what works long term .
Found some sugar soap in the shed and on the off chance is that any good do u think as a pre paint cleaner please
Also got a few cans of dinitrol left over so might spray inside the scuttle panel wiper motor arms area while panel is out
Want to try and get the heated washer jet loom in there at the same time when I start spraying the panel and twiddling my fingers watching paint dry
Thks

Yeah I think sugar soap would be good. It's good and cutting through any grease and muck.Kev

Ah nice one , thks so much
Do apologise keep asking the daft questions
Done a little bit of working out today ref wiring
Pre fitting gauges for the bottom centre panel and fuse boxes for the glove box to run aux power
Massive thks to Prof G who helped me considerably explaining the wiring
Few pics and hopefully I’m not making it boring
Fuse box splits into x 3 so u can adjust it accordingly to what ever application u want , so I’ll have a switched live and aux battery live
Dashcam mount, company are modifying it so it can fit better , hopefully will be done in the next few months
Got a new glove box switch and tyre monitoring system I bought months ago
Just small jobs I can hopefully get on with
If anyone wants links / info , questions always happy to help where I can
1st pic is off the web site and hope members didn’t mind me picking some of the glove box pics

Ref the combined aux/ USB port
On the back is has pre made connectors , ie , a 3.5mm pin and usb connector
Was going to cut the 3.5mm connector off so can wire it into the aux side in the back of my radio
Ref the usb plug , as it will only be for charging phones etc can I cut the plug off and just wire in a positive and earth and ignore the data wires please
Does look like I can but bet it’s not that simple
EDIT
just realised if I do that the usb will be 12v , when it should be 5v , yep, dropped a clanger
Many thks

Engine oil and fuel filter turned up today , bought 10 x litres as it was more cost effective than buying 6 L
Assume the clip is to stop u from mixing the pipes up ??

Fill the filter with diesel before you fit it and you wont have any problems when you start the engine.
Just take your time putting the pipes on they are colour coded and i know that if you put the two small ones on the wrong way round you will damage the injector return pipes. I had to repair one after somebody did this and its not a fun job.
Make sure you locate the oil filter spigot correctly in the hole as well or you will have oil pressure problems

Hi many thks
May i ask , Is it ok with this fuel system to do the following please
Connect hose with shrieder fitting onto test fuel point at back of engine as per pic
Turn ign on , activating the electric fuel pump , Open isolating valve on tube , other end into a clear clean jam jar
So I can then ensure the fuel hasn’t got any water in it, then pre fill up the new filter that way
Then once I’ve fitted the new fuel filter , ign on , open the isolating valve again and allow air to come out into a jar until free of air , then with the isolating valve off should give me the instant pressure reading of the LP fuel pump
Mainly allows to me a very easy way to fill up the new fuel filter
Thks , ref the engine oil filter , managed to do that filter change year but know I won’t be able to lean across the engine like that again , will have to get a garage etc to do that for me because of my back
Many thks

Also managed to get a pic of my gearbox
Looks like the ATF oil filler plug has ever come out
Have bought new filler level plugs , socket for engine oil filter
These items this year though I won’t be able to do
Do u think the gearbox lever looks ok, I haven’t noticed anything when selecting gears
Many thks as always
Ps, the small black specks are Dinitrol not oil

Windscreen heated washer jets loom ready to to be install
Also used a multimeter and ensure each wire was sound prior to installation, tested 100%
Will leave the rubber tube alone, no point taking it all out the disco when it’s sound
