The pictures i posted up on this thread when things were at their deepest in my conversion, might well seem and look scary.

However it's really just the seats, carpets and a some trim items removed that are easy enough to do and as long as you do this thing in the right kind of place, with enough space for safely storing the removed items, take some notes of the sequence you followed so you can follow them back and work methodically, taping screws and bolts to the items removed, in the place they came from it makes life super easy for anyone. You can also use labels and a digital camera to take pictures that will help put things back together as they were.

As all parts are OEM, swapping looms is also child's play, as they all use the same color coordinated and physically keyed connectors that means you really cannot go wrong.

It has been quite some years now since i did this to my D3, and when i did it, it was at a time when even if you did the physical part, re configuring the vehicle to suit the new hardware was deemed impossible.

But then the MSV-2 changed all that and so getting hold of the looms and ECU's was by far my biggest problem, and as such what i did may well have been a first. But now anyone can easily find many high spec D3's being broken for parts and providing the parts required to do this kind of upgrade to lesser specification D3's and changing the CCF to suit such hardware upgrades and additions is now possible via many MV owning members who are but happy to help etc.

In all or in part, I have clearly show that any degree of hardware upgrade on the D3 from the smallest to the largest is actually possible.

I can only hope that this provides due inspiration that others may follow in full or in part

Cheers Eirik

As i said in my last post, while what i did looks scary, Any vehicle, no matter how complex or sophisticated is but a collection of parts that fit together to create the whole.
Really no more than a bit of a jigsaw.

Take it apart, swap out a few interchangable pieces, put it back together and you end up with a slightly different and nicer picture.

I know many regard these Modern vehicles and their electronics as some kind of unfathomable Magic or Voodoo, but it really it is just an illusion. This is not Magic, voodoo or some kind of Alien technology.

With enough time and effort, and a sometimes a bit of collective help, it can always be figured out Thumbs Up

In many respects this project was quite simple as i was simply upgrading the spec of my vehicle to that of other vehicles of the same age.

However i have since also grafted much later CAN and MOST BUS vehicle systems that were not added until 2005 and after onto my 2003 Range Rover.

Again you have to see beyond the physicals to understand the basics and so gain confidence to figure why your heated seat is not working as it should.

If you look at the wiring diagram you will see that that the system is not really all that complex. There are a couple of thinnish wires that go from the Hevac Unit to the seat and connect to a Temperature sensor. Based on the value supplied the Hevac Unit turns the power onto the seat heater via a Thick wire, that is Blue and Pink IIRC.
Of course this also has a thick earth.

A few checks with a Mulitmeter will tell you if the seat heater power and earth is present and so lead you to a Faulty Heater Mat or sensor.

A very warm wecome abord this D3 forum to you.

But correct protocol here dictates that you should really post up on this thread first
