D4 2012 Rear camera

Just brought a rear camera from a D4 intending to fit into my 2012 upgrade but wonder if I have the correct camera? The one I have is part ref AH22-19G490-AD and has 4 connection pins.

My setup uses a Touchscreen from 2012 D4.

Looking at posts it seems that there are 2 camera types. One links direct to touchscreen and the other along with surround cameras goes to a camera module, which in turn, module is linked to touchscreen.

I don't have the camera module so want to know if I have the correct camera to link to touchscreen and if so what are the connections? My infotainment schematic only shows 2 connections for the screened CVBS signal to touchscreen, no power connections.

4 pin camera ( digital ) is for surround camera System And can't be used for anything else

The analogue camera .. 2 pins and a small SMB connector ( for video ) is the one you need

Thanks Wiggs, that was the horrible feeling I had when the camera arrived. Looks like it will have to wait.

Cheers,

Jack

Rear camera fitted

All done!

Managed to get full camera harness for suround camera setup and also the 5 camera module. Bit expensive I guess so I could just use my digital camera, but what the heck.

Made up the power/can bus cable from 4-core, 2 twisted pairs cable. Made connections in passenger side footwell where I used the 5A camera +12V feed at C1168R3, ground to one of the earthing bolts and broke into the medium speed CAN wires at same location for camera module.

Instead of routing the camera cable to drivers side door mirror (for door camera) I ran this to the rear for later use as an external camera on my box trailer. The harness for passenger side camera was installed and also the harness' to front bumper for when I manage to get these cameras.

Changed setting in CCF and EUCD and now have camera view when in reverse. The only thing I could not get though is the screen showing multiple cameras or the trailer hitch assist, not sure if I have missed something obvious in the settings? Rolling Eyes

Good job Thumbs Up

Just a word of warning .. There is a distance restriction on the cable lengths .

I have another digital camera on my trailer .. And it's hit or miss if it works .

If I shorten the cable it works fine

Thanks for heads up Wiggs,

The trailer inc A frame is about 4.5 Metres so allowing for position and connection it would be around 6 metres. It sounds like the digital signal is getting corrupted due to cable length so I will have a poke around with oscilloscope and see what happens to signals and try a few different cable types.
