D4 been delivered next week

Hi to all, its good to be back on the forum.. When my D4 gets here I will update and get pictures up.

Truth be told my bed time reading has been a bit scary! issues with the D4 seems to be higer then the D3??

My main concerns are the crankshaft failures and engine failures Big Cry Big Cry

any tips and advice on how to keep away from these happening would be great. Would it be a good to get a warranty on the car??

2012 XS 83k on the clock part main part indie service. Belts completed last year its been well looked after.

If the crank goes, it goes. Nothing that you can prevent with maintenance or anything.

It probably makes no difference, but if I’d kept my last D4 I’d have changed the oil and filter very 6k miles just to make me feel safer.

Hope you’re lucky. Odds are still in your favour, I’d say. Thumbs Up

Warranty Direct? Worth Google search and getting a quote from them if you are worried

Yes, it's the true, all, here with the D4, need the https://extra19-5.ru/en/

Mine is in my garage and asap (september?) I'll install it.

Also the CPL aditive is a good "shield" http://www.ceramicpowerliquid.net/en_GB

I have always used the CPL (from when I was engine developer on Ferrari Racing Dep.t, 1994) and I never had problems with bearings, camshaft, piston ring..... on my engines (until today, knock on wood)

99.9% sure that Warranty Direct cover crankshaft failure. Worth checking and taking out the cover. Plenty of info on here about others' experience with WD. I've had every claim settled without quibble, although I'm now on their minimum level of cover due to age and mileage.

If I was getting another D4, I'd be taking out another WD policy.

Yes, there is a sump nut but everything isn’t being drained through it as far as I know. Officially you’re supposed to use a pump to suck out all the oil from the top of the engine. That’s how everyone I know, who have D4s, do it and that’s how I did it too when I had a D4.

I didn’t mean that one, TBH, although I was aware of it. Not sure how useful it really is?
