CKP Sensor failed on my MY12 and my mates MY11. Both were in the VIN range above. Both had body-off replacement of sensor and ring. Both incurred bills of >£1,400. Only one was covered by Warranty Direct

So if you end up having to take the body off to replace the trigger wheel, then I assume there are other jobs it would be worth doing while you have good access. Like the rear timing belt? What other jobs would you tackle at the same time? D4 GS 12MY

It's not a body off job. You even said that in the above post link.

CKP sensor can be changed with the body on, sensor ring requires the body off. Sensor ring only necessary if within VIN range identified by the TSB.

Ive had it done too and mine was done with body on.
Best advice for people, if in doubt, would be to ask your repairer.

What a difference a week makes. I now have my D4 back with new crankshaft ring and sensor, all sorted by Ridgeway Landrover and Landrover Customer Services!
Big relief. So far, no stutter!
Thanks for all your various inputs.

I also had this issue on my 2010, it started within a week or so of me buying it Fortunately it's been fine ever since, and although it was a time consuming and expensive fix, it was covered by the supplying garage.

had the very same happen to the wife's 12 plate D4 last night, luckily she managed to start it again and nurses it just over a mile home. AA called and codes read, P0700 & P0336. Wouldn't start at all when I got home but when the AA arrived it did so we took for a short test and it cut out again so when LRCS open I will drop a call in to see what they say.
Just checked the VIN, it's IN the list

What mileages are the sensor/ trigger wheels failing at? Is it just a matter of time or pot luck whether it fails? D4 GS 12MY

Thats pretty low mileage, doesnt sound like its a high mileage issue then. Hope you get the repairs covered by LR! In view of the earlier post where the owner ended up in a ditch I would have thought a safety recall would be appropriate D4 GS 12MY

Mine had done 32,000 miles before it gave me a problem. Dont know that mileage is a factor. Had it back a couple of months since the repair and the mpg is less than we used to get and the gear change is slightly clunky now, but on the plus side it works.
Trouble is I lost faith with the car, so getting shot of it 25th or thereabouts for a new DS. The new car has been at the dealers a week and I could have had it if I wanted it, but I am busy plus I can't be arsed. I suppose, so long as I pick it up before the end of the month ....... I stopped this how many sleeps bit when I was 10.
