So the car is sat @ Beadles in southend, had a call on tuesday saying sorry were extremely busy but will try and get a diagnosis done later this week, today LRCS call and have spoke to Beadles prior who now advise they have no time until at least the end of the month....
Really not happy at all and advised CS of this as it Looks like we will have to cancel our bank holiday weekend away, cant tow a caravan without a towcar.. didnt offer a solution either which would have been nice......
Maybe i should sweeten Beadles on the idea of upgrading and see what happens then.

Apologies if I appear a bit dim but is this issue something that LR know about and will fix, or do I have to wait until it fails to get it fixed under warranty, should I be so lucky?

Wait-to-fail unfortunately.

work on ours commences tomorrow, BUT Beadles have found 2 further underlying issues, weak compressor and an oil leak between engine and gearbox......
Compressor is £720 fitted and leak TBC once investigated..... yep i think they can forget the compressor, Ongar Bridge changed one on our D3 for half that from memory.

Glad it's sorted, mine is in the affected VIN range, thankfully I have the LR Approved Warranty so 'should' be covered if it occurs2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Collected the Car Sat afternoon, after all the initial trouble with Beadles it did turn out to be fairly painless, yes they are extremely busy being a new dealer but on collection we are pleased to say the car is back and possibly feels smoother to drive than when it went in. I was concerned about reports of some saying it wasnt the same as before but ours does seem fine.
They even cleaned it inside/out. and fixed the so called oil leak FOC along with the crank position sensor and ring.

Crank sensor failure.
Mine failed on Monday 11/4. Luckily only a few hundred yards from home. Was doing about 5mph when the engine just stopped. A driver in a KIA mpv stopped and helped me home. The driver of the expedition Disco2 just drove by. Had it recovered to Grange Land Rover (Swindon) with the AA(Greenmeadow garage), within 1 hour. Had the fault codes read, PO335 and P0336. Crankshaft sensor fault. Its now in to replace the sensor and associated ring.
As a matter of interest, Dudley (Grange Techy) said that sometimes, before the sensor totally fails, you may notice that the engine cranks for a longer time than normal, before it starts. This is what happened to me, taking about 3 seconds longer to start, for the previous couple of weeks.
I have been quoted a price of £1277 to fix, gearbox has to come out, maybe the Turbo and body lift as well.
Top marks for AA (Greenmeadow Garage, Swindon) for recovery, and Dudley (Grange Land Rover, Swindon) for explanation of faults.
