D4 fob without a battery question
Will anything happen to a D4 key fob if it's left for a while without a battery in it? I'll want to take two keys on a trip but on a couple of occasions I'll want to leave one key stashed in the car but obviously don't want it active. Obvious thought was whip out the battery, but will this result in the key forgetting stuff?
could you not use a faraday pouch to electrically hide the key from the car ?
but would you need a universal key to then get into the car to use the hidden one ? ... or are you just thinking this is in case main key goes dead on you ? in which case just put some batteries in your wallet.

Thinking of when going for a run with just a key pocket in the shorts. Not enough room for 2 keys, one with FBH blipper. Just want to be sure in the unlikely event that someone does break into my car they can't just press the brake pedal and start the car with my key hidden in a secret place. Pouch would do but thought of whipping out the battery would be siiiiiiimples. Pouch is just another thing to loose on a road trip.
Test it in your secret place, you might be surprised, I can’t lock mine if the spare Fob is in the door pocket, also can’t start it either if it’s in the door pocket “Smart Key Not Found”

You can start the car without a battery in the key. Just hold the key in the marked position under the steering column.
It's designed as a backup in case your key's battery dies. So leaving a battery-less key in the car will still allow someone who breaks in to drive off if they find it.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I wonder if you are just solving a problem that doesn't exist. Leave the FBH blipper in the car and take the key with you....

I know first world problem but didn't want to take both keys. Are D4 keys waterproof, well sweatproof, like D3 ones? Might just keep one in my pocket and one around my neck.

Every day is a school day. Will keep both on me. Poss use a small zip lock bag.
