D4 GS MY10 USB Connection Module

Hi All,

About to purchase a D4 GS MY10. Obviously doesn't come with many toys but I can handle that (I think!!). One thing iwould be missing is proper iPod control. I have this in another car and really love it. Does anyone know if you can retrofit the USB connection module (as used in XS and HSE models) so that I can do this or can I only use the aux input behind the central console?

Any advice would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Ok,

I'll take that as a NO then!!

Thanks for looking.

Has anyone got experience of the Alpine/Pure Ezi-DAB add on? For those that haven't seen it, it provides hardwired DAB radio (via a windscreen mounted digital antenna) and iPod control. Looks like a pretty smart solution although obviously still a bolt on.

Anyone used one?

I spoke to TLO about this as there was a cubby lid on eBay with the USB plug etc.....

He says that there wouldn't be anything to plug it into as us GS owners don't have the fancy infotainment/satnav in the dash.

You do have the Aux input beside the power socket for the back seats. This does alow you to use your ipod but you have to control it through the ipod.

Yes, thanks.

Think I'll try the Aux socket for the time being and see where that gets me. As long as the sound is ok then it will do. I just wanted to try and get away from trailing leads....

Cheers.

Hi 100wheeler

Did you have any experience with the ipod use meanwhilé?
Is it necessary or is the single aus good enough?
I am asking because I have ordered a D4 without iPod/USB plug and thinking about changing the order if necessary.

Wiggs do you think this could be done and what costs would be involved I could do with a USB connection in my commercial that would allow a better connection for the iPod than the Aux lead. Bow down

Hi. Yes I do use the aux in with the iPod and the sound is fine. The issues really are keeping the iPod charged and selecting songs. Both can be achieved but its a bit amateurish. If you have the option to spec USB connection that's the way I would go.

In my 59 plate D4 GS i use one of these with a usb lighter socket and the apple lightning adapter for the iphone 5s

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Interface-Connecto...ace+Cable.

While cleaning the car the other day i found an electrical socket under the centre cup holders, could this be where the cars usb loom would connect if it had the ipod connection?
