What do you do with the old display that was in the hole.
Doesn't that have useful radio/ Bluetooth info on it??

It is an excellent mod! Well done Thumbs Up I agree my old 2009 Disco 4 GS had the earlier info screen in and I would have done this mod if I had kept the car.

My new MY13 (and looks the same with MY12) display is better and now shows the track name playing on your stereo through the Bluetooth on the iPhone. So that'll do me just fine. The tv is a neat feature though Thumbs Up but for navigation, my trusty old Tom Tom can't be beaten! Thumbs Up

However, I am also looking for a mount for my iPad within the car for offroad mapping, any suggestion as to how I could do this?

I have just done this mod. All works very well. I put the LR splash in and a reverse camera.

On start up

Nav

Reverse Camera

TV

Moved the original screen to the top bit of the glove box.

Thumbs Up

Unusual to see it so empty, Danger!

You now know why I am so good at the dash dismantle. Had that out about 8 times!!!

The rear camera wiring was ok and the cheapy £16 eBay camera seems quite good.

I bought 5 new clips this time round and didn't need to use any!

Maybe it's due to just gently pulling with reasonably even force opposed to the 'yank' I used before.

If you fancy taking a certain Disco from a local dealer out on a test drive - we could swap the looms.....

Hi Stenh02
Just wondering what Nav you used?
I'm seeing a few conflicting messages about what one supports a reversing camera?

Thaks

Graham,

I got mine second hand it is the Garmin Nuvi 1490TV.

It is superceded now. I think it needs the TV component to take the video input.

They still have a 1490T but it doesn't have the TV.

The one I have cuts to the video input screen when the camera gets a voltage so I've wired it to the reverse lights on the tow electrics connector in the rear left cubby box.

Newer garmins have a video in but they are pretty pricey. Dezl is the new one but aimed more at RVs and trucks.

The video input in the 1490TV is by a 3.5mm jack and garmin do a specific lead.

Drop us a PM if you require any info/help

Grant

Thanks Grant
You have done a great job.

I just missed out on a 1490TV due to a communication delay between my finger hitting the confirm bid and the auction closing!
I have been looking at the newer version.. either way it looks way cheaper than the LR OEM option!

Then I need to do a similar job for SWMBO's new Dog Grooming Van.. A combo satnav, reversing camera seems to make sense and I might also fit reversing bleepers/sensors... as its a bit bigger than her Freelander but a lot smaller than her old Horse lorry as she points out Smile

I assume you are around the Falkirk area... I also seem to recognise the car park?
Smile

Thanks
Graham

Yes, I did miss a good one (with aerials and leads) before I got the one I have. Not very common but the bay will have them occasionally.

I'm a bit further north than Fife, capital of the highlands but most large car parks are familiar!

Thumbs Up
