It would have been a darn site easier to have fitted the side steps if I'd have thought to have done that first.

And how easy is waxoyling going to be, just pour it from the tin and slap it a few times with a brush!

Get too carried away and you'll have to explain the puddles of waxoyl on the roof lining though....

Testimony to cars strength, that after hitting a lamp post and flipping over (so a fair impact) the occupants walked away and were out before the boys on the big Firenze red truck arrived Thumbs Up

I wonder what the off road screen says as to the whereabouts of the wheels and what would program it suggests Whistle

I know it's a tad archaic and adds lots of weight, but when it all goes wrong there's a lot to be said for having two chassis.

Looking at the angle of it the roof has held up well, I think I'd rather be in a D4 than anything else Thumbs Up

I never think of it as being archaic; unibody construction is hardly new when you consider that most cars have been built that way since the early 1950's! Heck, my old dear's first car was an Austin A30 - that was Austin's first unibody and I don't think anyone's about to call that modern! The separate chassis has its place and for a robust and adaptable 4x4, that might need to be repaired without access to very specialist equipment and skills (such as aluminium unibodies), I'd say it's ideal Thumbs Up

I don't disagree RM, just that nowadays it's all about weight saving.

have to say, I bought my first Land Rover - 1996 Disco 300tdi - as a result of seeing too many cars smashed up, on their roofs, mangled on the hard shoulder etc. etc. on the side of the M63 (as it was) on the daily run to/from Stockport for nearly 16 years.
