The prices i got when phoning around for the big service were all incl the dreaded VAT, it was only one Indi that quoted X plus VAT, which made him a chunk more expensive.

What were the range of costs you were quoted?
Interested to find out if I was robbed.
In addition to the 7yr B service recently I had fluids changed in the diffs, transfer box and gearbox.

For belt service most were around £1,300 incl extra tensioners, some (Inchcape/exGuava and GD Thames Ditton) a few hundred more. Local Indi, forgot name, was that without tensioners. Wimbledon were £150 less than that, all in incl the 2 extra tensioners. Happy with that.

For all the above plus an air-con recharge and rear discs and pads I paid £2,200. That included all tensioner and followers and all OEM parts.
That was at a LR Indy out in the countryside. Their normal clientele are farmers who watch what they are spending. Only a small place but were very welcoming and more than happy to take you back-stage to see exactly what was going on and explain stuff.
Did take a few days though because they were a technician down, but not a problem with an Evoque courtesy car for a few days and having access to three other cars after thatCurrent : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)

Rnclayton-I live on the south side of Bath and now use MJ Fews for servicing. So far I’ve been pleased with them. I need a LR Approved service centre/main dealer as my D4 is under warranty still, but I’ll probably stick with them.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I went for the 5 nearest dealers and it ranged from £1125-1400. MJ Fews is one of them. Indie was the cheapest at £1059. The indie and cheapest dealer are similar mileage from me. I will have to check the service book, but I think it is all dealer stamps. Worth paying the extra for the record. None have mentioned the water pump...MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Rnclayton I'm not sure I understand why you want to change the water pump? It is common place to change it when changing the cam belt on engines where the water pump is driven by the cam belt, because if the water pump goes then the cam belt has to come off again to change the pump.
The diesel engine in a D3 or D4 has the water pump driven by the accessory (serpentine) belt, it isn't anything to do with the cambelt so I'm slightly perplexed or I've misunderstood something.
On top of that, water pump failures don't seem that common on the D3 or 4 unless one of the water pump bolts is taken out inadvertently and not replaced, which can happen on a cambelt service, because one of the bolts looks like it is for the cam belt cover and gets removed by mistake but that's a different issue.

Thanks Discoteca.
More than likely my misunderstanding. I have read so many pages, trying to gain info on here.
I thought there was some advice to get a pump replaced at the same time as the belts. I took it to be the water pump.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Maybe you were confusing with oil pump which is often changed on a D3 at cambelt service? I've not heard of a D4 oil pump letting go though

I was quoted £675 in the midlands, but I have now moved near Stroud.
I am having it done on 2nd July, at £801 inc everything. He told me he checks the waterpump, but doesnt replace unless necessary.
