D4 tailgate remote opening

I have a 2012 d4 and I know this topic has appeared before but with no conclusions.
How is remote opening MEANT to work?. When I press the button on the remote is it meant to open fully or not(like remote opening on most cars). If not, what is the point? At the moment, it seems to semi-unlatch and then has to be opened by hand.
Do I have a duff one or did someone in LR marketing screw up?

Remote unlocking from the key fob just unlatches the tailgate, it doesn't open it, like most vehicles.

the only time i've found it useful is to pop the upper from inside the house, leave keys in house i can then go out and open boot, do 'boot related task' Rolling Eyes shut it and car remains locked.

probably designed before the keyless entry system which does pretty much the same but without having the first world problem of having my keys in my pocket!

some designed probably made up with themselves when thinking that one out.

Having watched my powered tailgate on the X5 open against a stone outbuilding and realised I would have to listen to the scraping again as I closed it, I prefer the simple unlatching mechanism on the D4 Big Cry
