D4 tow bar
Help with 2 issues would be appreciated.
Took the tow bar off my D3 ti fit to D4 and need the 2 special side bracket fixing bolts that go through the chassis.
Where can I buy them please?
How do I tell which electrics kit I need for my vehicle, its a 2011 HSE?

Unless you can pick the bolts up on here by themselves, only other option is a complete set of bolts, roughly 50 quid plus postage. hth

you dont need the genuine ones - buy 2 longs bolts and cut 2 peices of tube (galv conduit works well) to fit into the chassis rails for the bolts to pass through

I think you have to buy them as part of the tow bar fitting kit. I had to do the same a few years back.
The part number is LR007485

re witter tow bar
re the mention of spare parts for witter tow bars, a year ago bought a witter tow bar for my 2011 disco 4 , my mate fitted it for me whilst fitting it he put the two tubes that go through the chassis in the wrong holes in the chassis , no way they were coming out again. phoned up witter, can I have your spare parts dept, reply we don't have a spare parts dept ,I said how to I get some parts for a witter tow bar, reply you cant we don't sell spare parts only complete kits.luckily after turning my shed upside down found some tubes that did the job.

Not sure if the exact bolts you’re talking about so could be wrong. Assuming they are “normal” a set of correctly rated High Tensile bolts should work?
Should be able to get them from any faster shop (darn side cheaper) all you need is someone to send you a photo of the head of their bolts (or your old ones) - the rating and details are normally shown on bolt heads..

For reference, the LR parts (M14 bolt into threaded spacer):
Witter kit (uses M12 bolts and plain tube):
From the Witter instructions the above are M12x130 bolts, the tube is 88mm long with 25mm outside diameter.
IF you do make a set up I would go with the M14 original spec.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Make sure any bolts you buy for a tow bar are at least 8.8 spec, preferably 10.9.
Don't be tempted to get bolts from DIY stores (unlikely they would have 130mm long M12's anyway) as they are often 4.6 spec.Richard

Plenty on eblag It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Studding is generally 4.6. It is possible to get 10.9 studding, but not very common.Richard
