Whistle Whistle Bow down Bow down Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Says it all really,
D4 0
FF 1

And the FF has completed a weekend of off roading against trail bikes, and some seriously modded 90's/cherokee/disco 2 G4 and held its head high and shown what it can do on towing pressure road tyres without getting stuck!!

TBH i think the FF has it on the fact its lighter and isn't 2 great big chunks of metal bolted together so is more rigid and lighter as it should be Smile Look at the new FF, nearly at 2 tonnes wieght now!!

A 4x4 stuck Shocked ... WOW Shocked Shocked

Does he not consider that you can have two of the same type of vehicle on a similar surface and one be stuck and the other not. It's all down to momentum, circumstance and possibly in his case.... s Censored t driving Wink

I think his user name says it all tbh Laughing

Anyway I don't know why you are making these incessant comparisons of a D4 to a FFRR. A nice motor for sure but nowhere near as practical Thumbs Up

I'm just being honest and unbiased as I have driven both and love the ff more. I had a my10 d4 Hse sdv6 for a fair old amount of miles and considered it better than the my12 xs by a decent amount in ride comfort an infotainment (not relating to the options differences!) but the d4's just get stuck far to easy for the off piste driving I do. My ff just hasn't got stuck. Fair enough it my be driver skill but I think the electronics can only do so much.

I know where the ff forum is ta Wink an I don't see how much more practical a d4 is compared to an ff. fair enough if you have lots of big boxes and I'll it up all the time or carry more than 5 people at all then a good d4 can tick the boxes but the same surfaces with less tread depth and no TR and higher tire pressures the ff doesn't get stuck.

Anyway we digress highly from the topic that the OP started the thread on.
Maybe we should have a d4 vs FFRR event at some point?!?

I've been looking on the LR website at used approved vehicles for around the £35k mark, as I'll probably sell by D3 within the next year (before I clock up 150k miles)

Interestingly a 2009 FFRR Vogue TDV8 can be bought for the same price as similar mileage 2009 D4 HSE.

Read into that what you will Thumbs Up

Actually, my post was meant to show that a used D4 HSE is a more desired vehicle than the same age FFRR Vogue.

Imo, the D4 is better to drive than the FFRR, but that's no real surprise as it's a newer design. The gap has also narrowed between the 3.0 and the TDV8. Again Imo, the D4 is a more convincing package. The boot is too small for me in the FFRR and the 7 seats on occasion are very handy.

In early 2006 when I bought my new D3 HSE, it was a similar story. The dealer was selling D3 HSE's to previous FFRR owners. The facelifted FFRR with the TDV8 wasn't available then and the D3 HSE was simply a nicer drive than the TD6 FFRR with similar levels of spec.

The same is happening now, you'd have to really badly want the Range Rover badge to buy a new FFRR instead of a D4 HSE to justify the considerable difference in cost between the two.

I can take the td6 comment on boar as its pretty fair but the tdv8 vs tdv6?!?

And yeah 7 seats can be the end of the world for some people but the load carrying ability?? The boot isn't that much smaller in the FFRR when they are side by side. You'd need to have some pretty big square boxes for them not to fit in an ff and only in a d3/4.

Yes there is a price difference but that's always going to be the case. Comparing a 2010 FFRR to an SS or d4 for on road ability isnt going to work as the RR has the active cornering tech and on the same tyres it will win due to the weight advantage and rigidity a monocoque offers over a chassis and shell platform Smile

Having driven both extensively the only thing my FFRR lacks compared to the disco is the engine Smile

Yawn

kp with all respects it's going to be an uphill struggle for you to continually try and convince many here that they have somehow made the wrong decision by choosing to own a D4 rather than a FFRR ...it's a personal thing which will just keep going round in circles.

The FFRR is a very nice car ...but I don't want one thank you. Thumbs Up
