Oh, a beach race, that’s scientific. Good luck with that one.

WOW Yawn

Not scientific but factual and legal as we didn't have access to a Censored runway or sophisticated timing equipment.

Anyway here it is https://disco5.co.uk/forum/thread421.html

WTF has happened to this site? it used to be so nice and friendly. Everytime one posts there is always someone wanting to add a sarcastic remark.
Gareth and Myself spent a fair bit of time prepping this, finding a safe legal place and getting permission. We wanted to compare the vehicles side by side 0 to 60, video it and post it onto the forum for all to see. Sorry if its not scientific enough.

For anyone that lives somewhere rural, where it’s dark at night, of much greater importance are the laughable reversing lights. I’ve just handed back my D5 loaner again and reversing up the drive at night had to be done blind, while the usual cure of dabbing the ‘5’s ineffectual brake lights has no significant affect. None of this can be cured by upgrading bulbs.

I’m still interested by your “get with the programme” comment. Are you suggesting that this is progress, or that we should simply lower our minimum standards to suit?

We live in the middle of nowhere, no neighbours, dark zone so no lights etc. I reverse the d5 25-35m each night and the reverse lights (and camera) are perfect. I find the camera gets dirty then is a pain.

I’m not sure why the rear lights on a car cause so much problem. They are plenty bright and can be seen...whilst my ocd would like the entire rear red of the cluster used, it’s actually perfectly fine.

Having had every disco except a d3 (hated them) and I think 5 d4s I don’t miss the d4 it’s dated, it’s now more defender territory. The one thing the d4 has is a bit bigger inside rear.

That said the d5 certainly is a better place and better equipped place to be everyday, but low spec and some colours certainly make it uglier. I’ve done 7k in mine since late October

Must admit I did find the D4 reverse lights better but then I did fit a super bright LED bulb.

The Velars however seem bright enough and bigger than the D5s

Thanks for your concern DG, but I get my eyesight checked every 12 months and everything is fine. If my eyesight had been wonky, I’d have my very own D5 on the drive Whistle Wink

@mse: You’re right, the lights work fine for the camera. It might just be that I just prefer to use the mirrors first and then the camera to just fill in the remaining gap Thumbs Up
