I read that the big weight saving was measured against the 2.0 version, engine weight saving, when compared like for like there is not much difference. The marginal extra mpg is more than likely down to the aerodynamics of the new car.

Aintree green as well, one of my favourites but still happy I went with the D4 instead Whistle

Man, this picture of D5's front really reminds me of Forrest Gump's "Bubba"! Shocked
Could someone post his picture in here? Whistle Very Happy

If it had not got Discovery on the front I would swear it was a RRS

Over the 500 miles that I drove one, in like for like driving, it was definitely around 2.5 mpg better than the D4. It certainly didn't feel any lighter to drive and although the engine sometimes had to be worked a little harder, I wonder if there only being the one turbocharger helped?

While I can understand the sightings in and around London and the Home Counties, I'm still only very occasionally seeing them within a mile or two of dealers' premises (and nowhere else) in and around Devon and Cornwall.

I haven't seen any in Bath yet. I'm really surprised because it is awash with LR's finest. Interestingly I've seen quite a few Skoda Kodiaqs though.

Same thing happened when RRS2 came out. Lots of noise from LR about how its aluminium architecture saved weight. Supposedly "up to" 400kg lighter than the old RRS. The reality is that RRS2 is only marginally lighter than RRS unless you compared the most basic version against the old S/C.

RRS2 does much better than RRS on fuel though but it has a different engine.

I have not seen many around, but went to a wedding in Bath a couple of weeks ago and saw three!!

The funny thing was that we were not in the D5 but in my wife's Volvo at the time as I had been warned that the Waitrose car park was very tight. Rolling with laughter

See one in Pwllheli yesterday, in fact the wife spotted in a car park as we were passing. looks like a modern Land Rover, nothing look wise to differentiate from any of the other models.

I passed a dark blue one on my bike going up the steep hill out of Sandbanks today. I think it was the 2.0 litre because I overtook it quite easily and the massive revs made it sound like a London Taxi !!!

I think that is the general idea with car manufacturers these days?

I have still only seen one to date.
I drive around Manchester regularly so not as if i'm in no mans land.
Every time i think i see one, i wait for it to pass so that i can be sure from the back end, but it invariably turns out to be a Discovery Sport or RRS.

We went to the Essex young farmers show yesterday. Saw every conceivable LR but just 1 D5. Loads of D3/4's.

Once in the show there was no representation from any of the LR dealers. Volvo and Subaru were represented.

Clearly LR dealers don't think that farmers and the country set are worth worrying about. Confused
Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

That shouldn't really be the case as I believe that they still offer 10% discount to NFU members.

However, could it possibly be the lack of anything relevant to exhibit at the show that means it's not worth the cost and agro of setting up a stand? Could they at least have taken some more appropriate used stock instead?
