I must admit to feeling slightly guilty -
At the TV event (I still think thats a bad acronym) I was walking back from the 'pay caravan' when I overheard two of the locals talking about us. The main bit I heard was :
Quote:
"Did you see that RRS - can't believe his going to take that in there"
Quote:
"He won't take that in there...."
I happened to mention this to VA as we got back to the cars.
Quote:
"Is that really what they said?
VA asked.
I replied that it was. He then jumped in his car with a 'I'll show them' glint in his eye, and preceeded to drive straight into the 'Hole'.

I haven't read this whole thread, so not sure if the problem was found out with this discovery. We had the same thing happen with our disco, luckily we were only travelling at about 20 mph at the time on an empty road, managed to get it to moving again by reversing it backwards. When Landrover had a look at it they said it was some thing to do with a pin snapping, I'm told they didn't give that detailed explanation (i wasn't there at the time)
One thing we noticed from when we bought it the handbrake would make a bad squeaking sound when being turned on / off, since the incident the squeak is gone. Since its been fixed we haven’t had any other problems from it, apart from the occasional random warning messages which can be fixed by turning the engine on and off again

So people on this site don't like to accept D3s have problems?

So essentially your saying your park brake engaged whilst driving ?? Why did the fail safe not cut in ?
Did your wheels lock up too ?
Interested in hearing first hand what exactly happened to the D3 when you had your incident.

Oh we know the D3 has it's problems...like any motor and even binoculars.
Some of us just draw the line at incredulous stories that give the impression that the teller is on magic mushrooms 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

discosteve,
I am still very interested in hearing exactly what transpired during your incident so we can look at this in more detail.

Basically the wheels just locked up and the car came skidding to a halt, reversing managed to free up it up allowing it to then be driven home very slowly (it was only a mile from home down country lanes at the time). I will try and find out some more info about what the dealer said tomorrow and will then post it up.

What is all this about binoculars? I've gathered it's some sort of in joke on this board aimed at anyone who even suggests that a D3 could have a problem, but we've already established that anyone who thinks like that must be out of their mind. So, what is the binocular thing exactly?
