If you mean the Privacy Glass the camera functions well through it, just as you can see through the glass the camera can as well (this is when the camera is close to the glass).

I have privacy glass on the back door and my Thinkware works perfectly through it.
When I was fitting mine I disconnected the water hose from the rear window and pulled the camera cable through and then the water pipe. I tried for ages to get them through the grommets while they were in place and finally gave up and pulled out the grommets ran the cable and water pipe through and the grommets went back into place in seconds.
Has anyone with a Nextbase model camera had problems with the internal battery not holding a charge therefore the camera keeps switching on and off all the time ?The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

My NextBase is hard wired, always on with the ignition. When does yours run out? Are you recording when the car is parked?Richard

My nextbase battery failed after about 2 years, it was hardwired in , there is a lot about it on dashcam forums. You can replace the battery but you have to do some soldering . I’ve now gone with Blackvue as it uses a capacitor not a battery

There was / is a known fault with some nextbase dashcam batteries.
When I had a problem rang nextbase and they sent me out a new battery FOC just needed a bit of soldering although the new battery has now failed so beginning to think the nextbase product is not as good as it's reviews make out although in use it is not a bad dashcam"Never keep up with the Joneses. Anyone with a thinkware able to post where there's is on the screen? Putting it on the passenger side of the windscreen sensor pod makes the image seem too far to the left...

The Garmin 55 during there set up process where you are placing it on the screen and compensates for this, also asks if its a car or something bigger

This is where I have my Thinkware, but I don’t have a rain sensor behind the mirror. I had it up further but it was picking up some of the dots from the windscreen.
I’ll take a picture later from outside.

Thanks, disco 4 here with a great big plastic surround behind the mirror, shame I can't integrate a camera into that!

What's the definitive answer then for a hardwired D4 after all those posts? NextBase or Blackvue?

BlackVue are very very good, the operation and quality is first rate.
However their firm ware updates do not last long and cameras can soon become obsolete and none usabel.
I have 4/5 Blackvue cameras that firm ware is no longer supported and all require a re-boot update. I have spoken to Pittasoft who do the software and they are not willing or able to help or support. This means the cameras are a useless piece of plastic not good after a couple or three years especially when they are so expensive
This is the only reason I have moved away from themMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
