I like those lights on the TDV8. Can't imagine it was cheap or easy to do. Worth a look though.
What's wrong with council houses then??? HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Why not just turn on the D3 lights manually or have the CJB programming changed to 'daytime running lights' ?

Interesting is if that if you have adaptive lights and daytime lights programmed, the turning will be switched off during day and switched on during night. Some people get by
With a little understanding
Some people get by
With a whole lot more
I dont know
Why you gotta be so undemanding

Yep, that's why the switch is shaped to fit your fingers
Tim in Scotland devised a very smart LED set up for his TDV8. Worked in to the original headlamp cluster.
I kind of like that alot. Have anymore info on how he did it?

Firstly I’d like to point out that this is not for the fainted hearted and I openly admit to having second thoughts when I realised that it wasn’t going to be that simple but for those of the brave here you go.
I used the ones from Hella, although a touch expensive, around £180.00 a set, they are far better build and come complete with the entire wiring etc.
The first step is to remove bumper.
In the Hella set detailed instructions are enclosed so cut a hole/slot to the size stated, I increased the length by 1 cm as I found that there was far to much pressure in trying to fit them within the curve of the bumper.
I also cut off nearly all of the lug that the lights come with, again because of the pressure. To insure a secure fit I made myself four brackets, as you can see on the photo’s, the lamps already came with screw holes in the back.
Once fitted and it is not easy, I secured them into place with the brackets and black body silicon glue (it’s used here in Germany for securing spoilers etc to the body work. Once set it will never move.
I then used the black body silicon on the outside of the lights to fill in the small gap around the lights, giving it a (I find) the professional touch.
Now you have to turn your attention to the D3 as the lights won’t fit due to the depth of them so you will need to flex off (5 inches) of the steel bumper, I didn’t remove the whole lot only the front part, it’s shaped like a 3 with a backing plate to the open part of the 3, it was the 3 part only that I removed, careful here as on the left side the washer bottle is located and you don’t want to end up with a hole in that. This operation was easier then I expected, once flexed off I painted the bear metal with undercoat to prevent any rust.
After removing the un-wanted steel re-fit the bumper with lights and wiring.
The wiring comes with a relay which I located in the spare battery box, keeping it away from water etc. According to European Law you are only allowed to use one set of position lights (side lights) so you now have the choice, of a) removing the side light bulbs and use the Hella ones as yor side lights, this will mean they will be on all day and once your main lights come on they will stay on or b) which I went for, which means the Hella lights are on all day and my lights are set at Auto, so once it becomes dark enough the main lights switch on and the Hella ones go off.
The wiring diagram comes in the Hella pack but if anyone needs more details I will gladly supply.
The lights need to be a legal max and min distance from the outside of the vehicle and they also need to be a certain height above the ground which is why I choose to locate them as they are.

hmmm, looks great, however, after now reading how you have done it, the ones in the head light units are suddenly looking a darn site easier.
Or i was thinking of sellotaping two led torches to my bumper
Little more involved than I thought but the end result is still very 8) .
Brave move doing this now are we up for it on the forum???
Dunc/Jason - we going for it???
