A Dealer just valued my car
So I've gone to the dealer today so that a technician can 'diagnose' a cracked inlet manifold so I can [try] and get some good will from LR..
While I was there I saw a tasty Landmark on the forecourt so asked if there was a sales guy around.
We sat down for an hour, he took some photos of my car etc etc..
So, my car..
2012 D4 XS
146,000 Miles
FSH inc belts etc
(in my opinion) excellent condition (apart from the inlet manifold of course.
In the past 12 months (I know this doesn't count toward the price)
new compressor
new LH Inlet manifold (now the RH is cracked)
new coolant tank
new compressor exhaust valve
2 new door mechanisms
There is nothing physical wrong with the car in regards to damage etc.
Their valuation....... £5K (and this price is assuming the manifold was fixed! so basically they are saying my car is worth £3.5k?
Does this sound right to anyone? even the sales guy seemed shocked and told me it looked a little insulting...
needless to say I walked away.
Please correct me if I'm over reacting.. Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black
Disco4 MY12 SDV6 XS Orkney Grey (Gone)
Defender 90 200tdi Completely rebuilt.

Well I've got a 2006 motor with 129k on the clock, so I'd probably have to give him a few grand to take it

Mine is older than yours (2010) but lower mileage (80k) and same description - FSH, Immaculate condition, some nice extras, etc. so I'm assuming their quote for me would be the same if not lower.... For £5k or less, even if I were getting a new car, I think I'd just keep it as a spare!! Surely taking the a bit there.
I do think that 'known' enthusiasts' Discos (e.g. some that come up on here) are worth a premium though above book price.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

I don't think it's personal, it more reflects they wouldn't be selling it on their forecourt I guess. It's a lot of car for the money DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

My 2011 comes up as £7.5 on WBAC.
On that basis, I think i will keep it forever, and just buy an "additional" vehicle when needed.

me too and for many D4’s below £5K in good nick!
Considering decent D3’s (and I mean decent not the the bags of crap out there that there are plenty of that sell for £1500) sell for between £5-10K and the fact that most LR dealers will just off load a vehicle of that age as dont want to stick on their pitch with guarantees etc they are just having a punt.
Not a good way to sell you a car by insulting you, he should of advised you to sell privately D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
D3 HSE MY06 missing her still…

I just got £6000 trade in for my D3 on 56 plate with just shy of 90k miles.
Was against a £39k D4 mind you, not sure how much the Landmark was you looked at but £5k seems well low. As mentioned already its maybe the milage thats the killer.
