How do dealers "plug in" demostrators in showroom?
Have often thought it would be great if you could provide a separate power source when stationary to enable listening to radio, watching TV, or wanting interior lights on etc without the power warnings coming on.
Today it clicked that this is what is done in Dealer showrooms, so just wondered how they do it?
Is it just a battery charger providing a continuous charge or a separate 12v feed into the electrical system to provide a power source for the auxillary items?D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Normally it is a CTEK with comfort charger, can often be seen by the windscreenMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.
D4 camera club
But the ones they use have an LED on the fitted to car end....that seems to indicate "something"
What concerns me is that some dealers don't use these & let batteries go as "flat as a f@rt" then charge them up.....you get the result of this as your pride & joy.BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I don't think they all use chargers.
When I was last in Thames Ditton LR a few months ago, I jumped in a demonstrator Landmark and it had the battery warning light on. I had a quick poke around and couldn't see a battery charger anywhere, which I was surprised about.
I guess they don't care if the battery dies as it will be a LR UK warranty job.

I've seen the C-Tek chargers underneath the showroom cars. I fitted my own and now I don't have to access the bonnet to plug it in.
I also carry my own 'small' power supply in the back with a 2Kw inverter mounted on top.
A friend who is a manager at a land rover dealers has told me, land rover has instructed dealers to connect cars to charging systems at all times in show rooms. When ever I have been to this dealer that has been the case.

I don't know how the dealers cope with keeping their batteries charged but with my Disco3 I leave it year in year out when it is garaged with a CTEK 3600 connected via the white towing socket. I simply can't access the front when garaged to connect directly and this is so easy to do.
Now, car and original battery are nearly ten years old and still working fine I can't be doing much wrong.

I noticed Hunters Chester use something like this (could be this exact one, it looks the same, industrial-looking metal case) plugged into a 240v floor socket. Not sure if it's then just a croc-clip job under the bonnet or something more slick.

All good, but the radio will still shut down after a few minutes.

I fitted a comfort connector in the boot and connected to the towbar wiring.
The one with a flying lead is only £5 on ebay.
The one shown fitted to the vent is more like £20.
They have a traffic light system. I wouldn't get too excited by the lights though.
A CTEK 5 charge is a suitable for LR which comes with a short connector (without status lights)
