Delayed take off?

As per the topic heading I am experiencing delayed reaction in both drive and reverse, (but not all the time) almost feels as if the gearbox is thinking about engaging but being delayed, I have to give the throttle a good rev before I get any traction. Its just been serviced so I am assuming that transmission levels are okay!

Any input appreciated Thumbs Up

Is it revving up and going nowhere, if so gearbox selector pivot. If its just not responding to throttle, then egr or another cause.

Gareth its when I give it some welly that it finally seems to engage, normally you hold the brake move into drive and feel a little pull, that doesnt seem to be the case, I start revs increase and its sits dead for a couple of seconds, enough time to make you check thats the gearstick is actually in the corrrect position, then it takes off!

Howmany miles has vehicle done - if it is in the 68-75000 miles you may need to change auto box fluid - that can give these symptoms of holding back plus light juddering

Have had problems with both auto box linkage and EGR valves. In my case with the auto box linkage problem the revs went high with out any acceleration of the vehicle and with the EGR valves the revs were very reluctant to increase when the accelerator pedal was pushed. Thus in your case I would check out the auto box linkage first, it is easy enough to check.

There is a thread about this fault. I had it happen to me last week.

I asked the question in that thread asking if anyone knew what the settings were when replacing the linkage, just in case it didn't work right after replacing it but didn't get an answer.

I would be interested to know what the official method for setting the linkage up if any kind soul knows.

I just sprayed mine with wd40 then oil then greased it and it's working fine again.
