Maybe if Landrover (being a premium 'quality' product) were that confident of their products, they would offer 5 or 7 year warranties as standard.
Had a Hyundai Santa Fe 7 seater and it was very good, bought it off my neighbour who had it from new till the 7 year warranty was up. he only took it back to Hyundai for 2 or 3 minor items of warranty work and they were unquestioning in completing the work.

I cant imagine JLR ever being in a position to offer extended warranties as standard. It would bankrupt them!

Despite the impression that is given, it’s very little to do with “confidence in the product” and everything to do with making a commercial decision to use an element of the selling price to pay for what is, in reality, an extended warranty. If they were that much confident in their product, why would they choose an upper mileage limit of 100,000?

It makes a lot of sense for them to do this, rather than simply cut their selling price further. It gives a huge credibility boost, is effectively a minimum of a 3 year, interest free, loan to the manufacturer and it helps to support the residuals of their used cars.

I dare say that if Land Rover were to move their design department and factories to Korea, then they too would have the additional margin to pay for an extended warranty.

Perhaps JLR should move to Korea, maybe then their cars would be screwed together properly! LR should also provide fire extinguishers as standard equipment, further enhancing customer confidence in their products.

After all, what possible harm could another 10,000 or so manufacturing jobs, with an 80% export rate, being exported to Korea do?! Rolling Eyes

England 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 XS Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Had Toerag and Q7 (around 2005 and 2008 models respectively) as private cars and liked them both. Can't remember the Toerag being small per se other than the rear door access for feet when getting in (like the D2 was). The boot was certainly big enough for my use with two young kids and camping trips, etc.

The Q7 felt HUGE even after having had D3's as company cars. Seemed so long.

Both had the 3.0d engine that was/is a great engine IMO and was better than the D3 on fuel. The Audi had some chunkier rubber fitted (on when I bought it 2nd hand) and in heavy snow one year felt just as capable as the D3. Only thing that went wrong was one park sensor on the Q7. At the time (around 2010) the sat-nav and in-car equipment, etc. trounced the D3.

Have to say I still like both of them now as 'cars' but I've never needed capability of LR products.

Did look at a brand new Sorento at time I bought the Q7 but (then) couldn't fight the 'badge snobbery' within me so spent more on 2nd hand Q7 Rolling Eyes Have to say the Kia's, et al, have only got better since IMO
