Did the D3 have a caramel leather interior option? |
|
I'm not convinced my interior is alpaca.
It's not the light beige I've seen before, it's more, as the title, a caramel.
Was there a caramel option?
Thanks,

I have what I think is the original brochure from when the Discovery 3 was introduced. This lists three colours for upholstery (cloth or leather); ebony, tundra and alpaca. Ebony is black, tundra is somewhere between grey and brown and aplaca is cream. I am not sure that I would call the tundra a caramel colour but is does give a third choice between ebony and alpaca.

Tundra is green-ish and ebony is black.
You can't get them mixed up.

Yep - as stated, the only light colour was Alpaca.
Saying this, 5 year old alpaca could easily look caramel'ish as it gets dirty. Mine is definitely not as light as it used to be no matter how much it's cleaned. It seems almost impossible to get rid of the ingrained dirt.
I guess that if you cleaned it weekly from new or used some stronger cleaning solutions you could brighten it back up a bit, but it's never really worried me enough if I'm honest. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

As Paul says. The Alpaca does get darker (my euphanism for dirtier...) with age...
(Note to self - never get a black car or light interior ever again...) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

The alpaca interior cars I looked at had really nice cream leather in the photos, but it was a lot darker in person, would think it has become darker through use and age.

The fact that Alpaca gets darker could also be because of the ingrained dirt that gets trapped in the pores of the leather. After all, leather is still skin. Visit my car detailing blog at http://maksimumdetail.wordpress.com

A tundra interior also has greeny grey plastic bits on the doors and dashboard.
It is very, very different to Alpaca.
IMO, tired Alpaca looks like it is permanently stained with nicotine. I wasn't sure about tundra at first, but it hides the dirt, very well!
LR certainly did some special cream leather interiors in the MY06 - 07 timeframe. We looked at one with blue piping before choosing ours. It's nearly white in colour. Very smart and totally impractical... Club missing my D3

Thanks.
I have some alpacca dvd headrests being fitted, and can imagine they'll look a sod new as my existing leather is nothing like light beige.
Having said that, the glovebox and door trim is a perfect colour match to the existing leather but the cloned vehicle I bought in Oct 2010 had much, much lighter leather.
Maybe I need to think about getting it professionally cleaned???
Thanks all
