Diesel tuning chip on eBay. |
|
This is one of the bolt on units - not sure what it does but feedback is good.
I made an offer of £110.00 (+£7.95pp) which was accepted.
I'll report back when I get it.

Judging from the prices paid by other buyers, that's quite high.
I suspect it might be just a resistor in the IC - see this thread for a similar discussion. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Oh well - It's only 100 Quid.
If I like the difference it makes, I'll consider a proper remap.

The item arrived yesterday with incomplete instructions so I haven't been able to work out how to fit it. I've emailed the seller and asked them to provide the images referred to in the fitting instructions, but no response as yet.
Can anybody else tell me where the Rail Pressure Sensor is?

At least it wasn't me being totally dense. I went to a LR specialist today and he confirms that I was looking at the right sensor.
It's the connectors that are different!
I guess I'll have to try to get my money back.
It's a proper remap for me now. The LR chap does one that gives 240BHP for £475.00 + VAT. I can't remember the torque but the curve showed it higher right from tick over.
I'll report back when it's done.

A 'proper' remap isn't just about torque ya know!
If the torque curves seperate at lower than 1600-1700 rpm, i'd be wary that:-
a) it's not a made-up curve
and
b) if it is a dyno-graph and verifiable, that increases in torque at such a low level don't stress engine & drivetrain components unduly.
Such a 'cheap' price would indicate to me that there are few development & testing costs to recoup, as with your plug-in box, beware!

This kind of thing completely baffles me. You've spent the best part of £40k+ on a car, and then you go messing with its most important component on the cheap? I wouldn't care if it was a £1k piece of crap, but I think you're crazy messing with a D3 in this way. What'll you do if your engine blows up as a result of the use of this stuff, or if you loose power on the motorway and cause a crash, etc, etc; start a post on here complaining about LR?
If you want it to go faster, then at least go to a reputable source such as TC, JE or 10. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

Hampstead, I'm REALLY suprised you parted with your hard earned cash for this.
The Ad isn't put together very well & it's unclear exactly which engine it should be for RRS & Disco, did either of them ever have the 2.4?
Looking at the feedback to the seller, you may be in for a hard time to get your money back. But Good Luck & if you'e paying £558 (inc vat) for an unknown suspect tune, You'd be better off going for TFC's tune or TC or JE at just a few quid more.
I don't know about you, but when I spend this much on anything, I'd want something designed for it...... Bodsys Brake Bible
