Disco 3 - Air suspension to Springs

Hello All,

I have recently changed my Air suspension to Springs as had a number of issues on going with the wiring and constant warnings showing on the dash.

The ride is great and the rest of the car is perfect (in my eyes) now, but out of curiosity and a possibility of me looking to upgrade to a newer model at some point, does anyone know how this would effect the cost, does this put some people off at all?

Any assistance is most welcome!

Gary.

From a personal point of view, it would put me off 100%.
One of the best features on the Discovery is the air suspension.
Afraid I would walk on past.

Have to agree with Sea Raider. One of the best things about the D3 is the terrain response and air suspension. Most air suspension issues are relatively simple to fix and the advice on this forum is second to none.

I agree, I wouldn't want it on coil springs.
For one thing it would make me question what else is blanked off / not repaired properly.
So for me personally, as soon as i see coil springs, I would skip onto the next ad

I had base model coil over version D3 before D4 and have to admit AES is awesome
I would defo not attack such downgrade due to too many integrated systems left behind

Thanks for all the input on it, its much appreciated!

It is my first Discovery 3 and I am loving it, and had a few repairs complete on the suspension before I changed it, and did the change for convenience really, as I am away a lot and the car is in some remote locations, so couldn't afford it to fail while away, it also doubles as the family car... so its used a lot and depended on.

I am not looking to sell yet, as I stated I am just curious to what the thoughts on it would be!

My next move would be on to a newer Discovery but I have also looked at the new Defender, some nice ones rolling around where I live!

Thanks again!

Regardless what most think - there’s always buyers out there with the same idea as you. So you would definitely get interest, if it’s priced correctly.

Have you told your insurer it’s modified, as only base models in the uk came on coils.

I wouldn't downgrade to springs - just fix whatever the issue is.
