hi mate
if you have trouble purchasing decent ones you can always borrow mine
i have a pair of heavy duty truck ones made by a trucker so they are the dogs
they also lift the car quite high so access is made easier
i am only in bury nr manchester so you could always pick em up and hang on to them until i need em again
up to you
let me know

Very Happy Thanks for the offer will keep you in mind. The use of hydralic ramps is also a good idea and the garage offers 10 quid an hour that is if you can get the job done by then. Funnlly enough i thought of the idea some years ago but no garage was oofering it probably because of health and safety.
Thanks

I made some out of varying lengths of wood plank - longest being 6ft, shortest being 1ft with 12" difference between each layer. each level is 2" tall, the planks are 6" wide and I have 4 separate ramps.

so a pair is 6ft long, 1ft wide and offers 12" of lift over normal road height - which is plenty for working underneath a car!

Cost about £40 in planks and an hour of my time to screw them together.

I made 4 ramps instead of two so they are easier to move and store - just line them up against the wall on the driveway!

Spooky - I was a bit surprised when I read that they are rated to 1000kg each ramp...

Seems a bit low to me? Don't get me wrong, it should be fine (2000kg is plenty to support the front or rear end), but doesn't leave much room for safety (my tripods are 3000kg each and wouldn't want to use anything less)...

They do look nice though and I'd love to have some ramps like this at home Thumbs Up

here is what I have made -

Like I say - four of them for ease of use and storage. Planks are 2" thick and I used 4" woodscrews (4 per foot of wood) to secure them. So no risk of it going anywhere!

Top level is plenty for the tyre to sit on and gets the vehicle right up. Obviously no weight rating, but I doubt they are likely to go anywhere!

Had loads of cars on them, from my little 205GTi to my D3 - they've never moved

Smile

Not to scale and I'm not a CAD technician!

Thats why I made four - easier to lift! Dave don't forget that the picture isn't to scale so they look much taller than they actually are - 12" tall and 12" wide!
