Hi, we need a lot more info as it could be loads of things especially as you live in a very hot climate. For example, age, mileage, history, when, where and doing whatever. You need some clues, overheating, oil starvation etc. If pistons 1 and 6 have disintegrated they have probably damaged the bores so maybe a short engine is the way to go as long as the cylinder heads are ok. Good luck and please keep us in the loop as to the outcome. Whistle

The vehicle is a 2005 disco 3, mileage around 95000 km,. Both heads seems ok, crank looks fine except for 1 journal that will need some work.
the oil pump looks physically fine, sump had oil before i drained. I heard ppl saying the oil pump is a defect in these vehicles and should be replaced, are there any signs i should see showing defects?

Common Oil pump failure would be obvious on outside

Do you have pictures of these failed pistons ?
It’s not something we have heard before

You can get replacement pistons

Asked as a non techie but isn’t cylinder 6 the one that’s affected by bearing shell rotation, cutting off the oil flow and killing the engine?

Hi

Is this what u was looking for Thumbs Up

Vehicle LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 4, to be in inoperable state due to engine failure. The following defects are revealed:
- presence in oil of small metal inclusions formed by the process of mechanical friction;
- teaser and discolourations on and crankpins of the crankshaft, the crankshaft traces overheating (buccal) in the region of the cylinder 2 and 5;
- welding by friction liner rod of the second cylinder.
- all indigenous damaged liners, the worn out portion of the internal and external, which is adjacent to the block and closures of wear and scuffing does not except the liner third crank journal. Insert a third crank journal (which is attached to the cylinder block) has a strong wear of the inner surface and the part where the locking is completely split off. There is a deformation (flattening) radical loose leaves in consequence of shock loads.
