I think all the airbags curl up like that. I guess the vinyl covering shrinks and pulls the edge up. I have wondered for some time if it would be possible to make a thin cut in the plastic behind the vinyl to ease the tension but I'm not brave enough to try.

Hi classic
I wondered that , when I remove the older steering wheel going to have a proper look at the airbag and see how it looks on the D4 wheel
Notice the D3 airbag is raised in the middle whilst the D4 is flat
Am not worried if I mess the D3 airbag up as it will drive me nuts if it looks out of line on the new D4 wheel , where it’s curled up at the top
Also I’m not sure ref the D4 airbags if there different after 2012 , this wheel is a 2009
Yeh i know need to get out more

Hi buddy
Have a good day and also just about to start on mine again
DSL AKA derek I must admit he has been a diamond helping me when I’ve needed it on the D3 ,
Think his name should be Derek the oracle
Look forward to some piccies plse
Also I thought there had to be an easier way to test the mini fuses behind the glove box, so done this by cable tying two multimeter meter test leads together ,
Also made up a J fuse test loop
Have a good one and nice the sunshine is out again

Hi mate
Always the way when ur trying to get on with things at home then work goes mad
Jealous ref the rock sliders , have been tempted myself
Found the battery drain, it was the electric seat memory module, pulled the fuse and dropped dramatically , main battery would normally last 8 x days before going flat , now day 16 , still fully charged
Also bought a D4 steering wheel , got cruise control switches and new styled airbag , just waiting for an airbag removal tool , can then fit that and think it doesn’t look half bad
Hope u soon make progress buddy

Hiya mate.
Nothing to report as yet. Been crazy busy last few weeks. Hopefully i’ll Get to it soon. One thing I have noticed is that she’s sat on her bump stops so I definately have an air leak somewhere. I’ll add it to my list.
Very jealous of the steering wheel mod mate ! Really like that. Hope all is good with you,
Speak soon. Jarrod

Thks, thought u would like the wheel, better not show u this pic then , will take another one with the airbag fitted
Good to hear from u and all goes well

Time for an update....
I’ve ordered a set of new valve block seals.
Work taking over my life at the moment, been back and fore lydney and Hereford the last few weeks but thankfully we’ve managed to get one site complete and the other (lydney) up to date so things calming down slightly. Time to start pulling the disco apart again and this time attend to the bits I missed or didn’t have time for last time around.
Spoken to the guru aka disco Mikey and looks like a gearbox will be headed my way soon ! I can’t wait to drive the car with a decent gearbox.Jarrod

Look what turned up today ! Huge thankyou to discomikey, who managed to sort out packing and posting the gearbox even though the man is flat out busy which saved me a 16 hour round trip !
And seen as the garage is colder than a penguins cold bits I’ve dragged this beast out ready...
So here we go again guys. Body off time.Jarrod
