I did mine a few months into ownership. Bought all bar one from AF and then the last from LR. Luckily both suppliers on my doorstep.

To be honest at 105k miles the ones on there were fine. Maybe a very slight grumble in the idler bearing. About £200 all in for the parts.

I got the plugs changed by LR. Supplied the plugs and it cost me £99 for the labour.

How much for all the pulleys etc? I am going to get mine done next year with the plugs, as they are getting quite loud on startup.

The parts I wanted to replace were PQS500221, PQR500330, PQR500350, PQG500030, PQG500220 or two belts, pulleys and tensioners.

A thing to note - At AF the PQR500350 pulley doesn’t come with a bolt while at Rimmer Bros it is sold as a genuine kit and should come with the bolt. So I ordered PQR500350, PQR500330, PQS500221 from RB and the two others from AF. I got all genuine LR, if you are ok with aftermarket the bill is probably half of what I paid. Ordered some other miscellaneous stuff, too, to cover shipping like a spare brake light switch to keep in the car. I’m not honestly sure how often it breaks for most people but it seems for some it is a common event.

Plugs NGK IFR5N10, the Indy will supply these for a very reasonable price.

The maintenance schedule states that belt change for V8 is 150 k miles or ~240 k km while for the V6s is 105 k miles or 168 k km.

I'm here, and one of the very very few in N. Ireland with a V8. It's an '05 bought a couple of years ago at just under 10yr old.

Can't just make up my mine, love it Thumbs Up or hate it Big Cry.

Never been a dull moment with it, I've rebuilt the heads, done the belts, all bushes and wheel bearings, brakes, upper steering column, rear prop shaft, A/C condenser, O2 sensors and just this week a new EGR.

And still it continues, some oil leaking into a few of the plug recesses from the camshaft covers so new seals to be done this weekend. Even then there are plans to either rebuild the rear diff or fit a new one as there's a rumble from it.

I love it really, no, I hate it, oh I give up. it's a keeper anyway.

Mine a/c is currently out of action, which is suspect condenser leak, a spring job. Currently I am fixing the heated seat. Far greater winter priority.

I also have the ACC leak to fix. Zilch pressure.

The ACC was so cold when I bought it that I turned it off. Came back to it 8 months later and it's no longer works. Oddly not so fussed about this but will fix in the spring.

Just changed both locks in the rear doors as they were intermittent and that annoyed me more. Couldn't be bothered to repair so if anyone want then to try and fix PM me and I'll post them on.

Looking forward to taking the V8 away up north next week.

Where did you get the seat foam from, think mine could do with replacing.

It's not a difficult job though some of the screws are a little awkward to reach. In particular the ones near the bottom of the rad.

There's no need to take the Rad. right out, just remove the fan, cowl and grill and place some card between the engine and rad to prevent damage to the fins. Then tip the rad back to access the fixings for the condenser and power steering cooler.

My biggest problem was the first condenser I got (right part Nº) would not fit because one of the pipe connections was the wrong size i.e. to small and the pipes could not be attached and the job was delayed until I could get another one.

When the old one was out it was obvious that the failure was caused by the foam packing beneath the drier which gets wet and promotes corrosion in that area. So before I fitted the new one I coated the lower 100mm with stonechip in an attempt to prevent it happening again.

I'm also in N.I. and have a grey v8, bought off a forum member last Christmas, ironing out a few issues with it but still using my log burner until sorted then I can sell it. Think I spotted Alphamale a few months back although I was on the motorbike and not in the disco.

Hi gardendisco, depending on just where in Belfast you are you'll see me around quite a bit and you'll know my car by the LPG filler below the rear bumper and the forum web address on the rear window.

The V8 is great, though at the moment I'm having a problem with cold starting. The main suspect is the injectors that may need cleaned and I hope to get around to it towards the end of December.

I’ve got a 54 plate V8. I also have an 05 plate log burner, so worst of both worlds. 300,000 miles between them...
