Discovery 3 wiring expert required. FIXED |
|
Hi guys, I’m looking for someone who knows about the wiring on these cars.
I have an intermittent problem. 9 times out of 10 times the drivers electric seat will not work, when this happens the electric mirrors won’t adjust (although they will fold)...and the sunroof will not operate either.
The 1 time out of 10, when one works they all work, with no issues.
The carpet is bone dry on both sides and no sign of water ingress that I’ve found.
I’ve checked the loom that runs along the drivers side sill and all looks good with no obvious problems, the earths in the footwell look good and tight.
HELP !
Tia😂

just checked.
The rain sensor isn’t working, and the seat etc isn’t working either.
When it all decides to work again I’ll check the rain sensor too.
So....is there something that I can do Pete?
Thanks

Well it may mean that the Lin bus has a problem
Or one if the Ecus in it is causing the problem.
You could unplug the sunroof box for a few days and see if that helps the seat problem.
Next try the large module under the seat.
Then the rain sensor

I’ve got 2 D3s, so I think I’ll swap the seats out first.

Okay. Where’s the sunroof box?....easier to remove the fuse or will that not work?

I don’t know the answer but do basics first check the fuses
I have just fixed an Isuzu pickup, spent two days at the dealers and £350 cost for them not to find the fault,
Air con and drivers window not working, 1 hours work with manual and test light found a fuse that controlled both circuits replaced and all good, fuse wasn’t listed for Those circuits, a general ign supply fuse Discovery 3 HSE 07

There's a couple of connector blocks under the seat that can play up.
But be careful as they are mainly for the Airbags etc.
Wiggle them about whilst operating the seat.

So today gents. I stripped and inspected the loom on the passenger side, all was dry and looking fine.
I unplugged the sunroof module, to see if anything else came to life, but nothing. I did the same with the rain sensor and the drivers seat....no luck.
Then I swapped the drivers seat with one out of my other D3 and still nothing.
the odd thing was everything worked all morning, just decided it didn’t want to play this afternoon.
