The dash looks decidedly low rent compared to a D4 Rolling Eyes

I don't think it looks too bad, to me the D4 interior needs an overhaul it still uses horrid green back lights for the switches and the rather dated info screen between the dials, that should've been change to full colour when the Fl2 gained it in 2013.

One thing I don't like is the reliance of infotainment systems to do simple functions, what happened to just pressing a button. Also the satnav, I've only had two LRs with satnav, Fl2 and DS and both were rubbish.

Looks a little bit like an old DB9 interior 2004 wish vintage. Cant say I'm a fan at all if thats what it will look like. Im sure it will all get covered in leather etc on higher spec models

Quite a bit of the interior is still covered by camouflage material and the Mexican drug lord doesn't add anything so I'm waiting until it's in full production photos before I make my mind up.

You need to see the whole package presented properly.

When we went round Gaydon, they were taking apart an X3 and one of the big Mercedes saloons, but it was a bit sparse....the manager said that they were clearing space as they were about to do something they'd never done before.....getting in 4 cars from the same Group, that shared the same floorpan, and dismantling them all at the same time.....namely a Skoda,a Porsche,a VW and a SEAT....
You can guarantee that JLR will have dissected offerings from all its major rivals, and I'm sure the new car will be excellent.....whether it satisfies the expectations of previous Discovery owners or not,we will have to wait and see...

Unless L/R are writing new Haines manuals for idiots how to repair?.

That info/satnav screen is too low for the Discovery - I hope! Maybe it's just me but I like having the screen up high so I don't have to take my eye completely off the road to glance at it?! And passengers can also see the screen easily....

I hope and reckon those pics are of another product.....

Ergonomics....

Ok my D3 is ten years old & things have moved on a bit.....maybe a lot !

But the point made about having to use a screen for simple functions & having a clear unambiguous layout has been done "wrong" in some cars.
The right ones have commonly & often used functions on knobs & switches....my XK does this brilliantly with interior temperature controls for each side on up - down buttons....the fan speed in between...a simple knob.
Infotainment either on the screen, side buttons or from steering wheel controls
What we can see from the uncovered console has three knobs.....I would have thought climate control temperature for each side & fan speed.

You do get used to what you use....
- the D3 & FL2 are almost exactly the same so intuitive....logical
- my XK is markedly different & from an era befit pre the D3 but again logical & very usable
- State of the art ( to me) is my company car Golf which blends all controls seamlessly with on screen functions, side of screen buttons & steering wheel control with the dashboard repeater screen... Works on the move & is visible to all passengers...especially SWMBO'd who owns her side temperature & the volume control (it's at her side)
I had an AUDI A5 most of the week as a loan car....simply dreadfull.....more or less all the same functions as the Golf but illogical positions & really silly to use......as I find most AUDI's are....& I've driven a lot.
Mention of a "high" screen infotainment might suit some but not all unless it can be dimmed or switched off is a very big distraction at night in unlit roads....well to me it is. Being able to black this out essential so separate controls for the main functions ..... essential.
The SAAB black screen system that switched all dash illumination off or to a low glow simply brilliant....II would be inspired if they incorporated this
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

The Terrain Response only has four settings just like Evoque and DS/FL2. It's either a borrowed centre console or a different model altogether. RRS2 and FFRR have 5/6 Terrain Response settings and it's unlikely that D5 will be less capable.

I would take a stab in the dark that that one is a 2.0 diesel with single speed transfer box, which would delete the rock crawl mode perhaps and without adaptive dynamics.

Or it could just be preproduction switch gear

Could be. Hopefully they won't sell many of those...

More I look at this the more I think it could be just a pre production /heath robinson affair. Clearly missing the bottom ashtray bit and velcro wedged in the sides. Whats that button with a symbol that looks like a battery charge icon (hard button top right of the screen)?

Looks the same as all the LR RR later models in my view.

Also the interior mirror is a manually dipping one not automatic.
