As others have said the horizontal lights don't break up the back end. And they made a split tailgate on the FFRR so it's possible...

Yes with horizontal lights you cannot achieve a balanced offset look that's why the current model looks so odd. By making the lights vertical you can move the offset plate to the edge and all of a sudden it looks OK again...

The back of the FF has been built a lot flatter to make the lower hinge practical. Would McGovern corrupt what he thinks is stylish design, just to please “untrained” customers?
 Three very nice FL2’s and two superb Disco 4’s to date.
With them both sadly out of production and a new car needed at short notice, I bought LR’s nearest new equivalent - a FFRR 😋
