Fitted my new rock/tree sliders from Shire Fabrications.
How do you rate them? I was looking at picking up some tree sliders but wasn't 100% sure on the Shire Fabrication ones. It looks like they have improved the design since the first version?
They fitted well and a straightforward job. Look good and seem very solid. Not seen any action yet though. I like them.

Cleaned out sunroof drains AGAIN ...
So with the rain yesterday had a bit of seeping into the cabin.
Decided to clean out the drains again using the strimmer line technique referenced here again.
Used 2.4mm and went all the way through and flossed!
Also wiped down the rubber seal around the sunroof itself as it was covered in build up general road crud which probably wasnât helping with keeping some of the water out. Baby wipes worked a treat!
Now the interesting bit is that the pipes work better with the strimmer line left in....
Perhaps it straightened out kinks and wedges a valve of some description open.
I might leave it in permanently and see whether it makes a difference ...
Does anyone on here forsee issues with that concept?
Itâs draining really well at mo, with the strimmer line in more a tap running than a gently drip
Have a good one all!2011 D4 HSE Black Black

Prototype boot shelf and sliding platform
Finished off my 5 ply parcel shelf and boot sliding platform.
Loading boot day2day is easier and keeps the bits and bobs in the boot out the way.
Uses furniture sliders so friction is minimal when sliding loaded in and out of the boot.
Parcel shelf held down with bungees to tie down points. Which also keep items to sides as well.
All easy to remove when not needed.
Working well so far.
This is the Second iteration, first was just a basic raised platform with pull out âtable.â But it didnât offer flexibility I was looking for. Pull out table was originally seen on YouTube.
Pix below for ref.
Thoughts welcome...

Camping
Didn't really do it today but the Disco got me, the wife, two kids and far too much camping gear up to a site in the West Lakes for the long weekend. Thanks to a small car park when we were leaving it even managed to go off-road (a little at least!)
Cheers,
Gareth

Picked up these off eBay, looking forward to putting them on later. Just dropped them off to the tyre place to have them checked and balanced.

Put on some new wheels. Much younger looking than the standard HSE wheels in my view.
The HSE ones are now for sale -see post in For Sake section.

Finally refitted the body. A few more bits to do and then we can turn the key and see if the hassle has been worthwhile.
