Popped the summer tyres on. Got to use my wheel stud aligner for the first time, made things a lot easier with these heavy wheels.

@ christophe111111

Hi, welcome!

Tip:

Instead of yelling in your first post (capital sentences in the digital world are equal to yelling)
And putting questions in random topics, a proper introduction in the “say hello” topic first AND afterwards start you own topic, with your question might give you, a warm welcome and help i believe, as this forum is very helpfull by default . Thumbs Up
 Best regards
Harold

MOT'd and service, currently scratching my head looking for clips as I want to pull off most of the plastics to replace or re-coat them Smile
Oh recently also got rid of the chrome honeycomb grill and replaced with correct bodycoloured D3 one (next up rear lights once I find some!)

Changed fuel filter, transfer case oil and oil in both the differentials. TC oil ok, rear diff oil had quite a bit of metal particles, bronze and steel. No big ones, so no worries. Front diff had four metal strands, between 8-13 mm long, stuck to the drain plug, that worries me a bit more.

Had a look at the rear propshaft, and the bearing has a big rift and needs to be replaced shortly Big Cry £££

Todays major scare was removing the skid plate beneath the oil sump and discovering an M6 bolt lying loose on top of it Shocked
I remembered that exact bolt from when I replaced the timing belt. What I didn't remember until after a minor heart attack and removing the shroud around the fan, was that this bolt decided to do a runner during the disassembly, and was subsequently replaced with a standard M6 bolt from my workshop Whistle
That cost me another few grey hairs..

Used the D3 the other day (quite a warm day), and found the air con blowing uncooled air. Not really surprised, as it has been slowly getting less cool over a few years since the last re gas. Checked for fault codes, and sure enough B1B78-84, ‘system pressure signal below allowable range’ occurred about 300 miles ago. Had A/C system vacced out, nitrogen tested (no leaks) and regassed with a bit of pag oil today at a local garage)…….Now blowing icy cold again, well pleased with it. Thumbs Up

Changed the rear belt for the HPFP. Not such a Censored of a job as some would have it, but I earned my scrapes on my forearms.
Good thing about owning a Disco, you never run out of things to fix. Today new jobs on the list are fixing a broken connector (and finding out what it's for...) and fixing the positive clamp on the battery, which has become worn and slack.

Picked up the D3 from R & E Land Rover, Salisbury after having an air leak which resulted in my compressor finally giving up the ghost and the vehicle stuck on the bump stops!
I ended up with a new AMK compressor (replacing the Hitachi) and the relevant software update, along with a new front passenger side strut to replace the leaky one that was the culprit.
A top job with speedy service, as was dropped off Monday morning and picked up at lunchtime today.

Got the aircon gas put in after changing the condensor over the weekend (using Disco Mikey's how to). Cold air out the vents. Very Happy Old condensor was literally decomposing.

Also bedding in a new recon steering rack from Western Power Steering and a brand new set of Avon AX7's. AX7's are performing well. Road biased Michelin Latitudes had done a great job over a long time but were giving up the ghost, almost at the tread limit and not entirely circular!

Almost like a new car Thumbs Up

Fitted new stainless and rubber bumper cover and looks great now. Also replaced tailgate onbody rubber seal which was looking rather worn.

Update: think I managed to drill through the rear parking sensor loom as now the sensors say not working…

Strike day chores

WFH on train and tube strike day, so washed D3 for the second time in 4 days to get rid of the sand that came down in the last couple of rainfalls. Also replaced the tailgate handle microswitch and fitted new clips to the windscreen trim panels...in between working, of course!

Air con recharge.

So it gets to the hottest time of year and air con packs up 🥵🥵 no code recorded for low system pressure as usual so I was expecting the worse, but it recharged okay and all cold again. Last recharge lasted two years so hoping for the same🤞🤞
