If you service at thye dealer they should do it for free with the service.
Made a big difference to mine.

Sounds to be as though it's one of the issues cured by changing the Auto Transmission Fluid Thumbs Up

The "shunt" is a software issue, no need to change fluid (as per Auto transmission guide by ZF/LR). Software update cured this on my car.

Does anyone have any info on the software patch issued to cure this problem?

Was it a general patch or just one used to cure a "customer complaint"?

Mine suffers from this and I'll be double flushing the gearbox oil (and replacing the pan filter) very soon, but would be interested in getting this patch done too Thumbs Up

Paul,

Just ask them to update transmission software. On IDS it comes up automatically, my car is MY05 and got updated 2 month ago, software update totaly cured the shunt.

The ZF/LR guide list MY05 and MY06 with this problem and recommendes software update, also fluid level and selector cable binding should be checked.

will try dealer then to see if I can get the update. My dealer is pretty grim. they dont want to know or help unless your buying new or your car is new. mine being an 05 they are not interested. pains, very rude to be honest. will try though, think they will charge me

They did charge me. 100 quid. They said they couldnt find anything wrong again. they have reset the adaptive driving memory or summat like that. they have lubricated the gear selector. Its far easier to shift between gears now. still got the shunt though. Im going to try the fluid change like bodsy says. see if that makes a difference.
Oh and the software update I asked for was already done apparently.

I have the same on a 54 auto, had fluid change and filter also had latest software. Dealer then drove it and said its normal ,it only happens occaisonaly when slowing down to around 10mph then suddenly accelerating, feels like its not changing down into gear quick enough.

Will the software update effect this problem on a manual??

I have same problem, but put it down to wear and tear (103K miiles on and 55 plate)..

Would like to get it solved though as, when in slow moving traffic, if you dont slip the clutch properly, you end up bunny hopping towrads the car in front Shocked

ive heard from someone that LR had a problem with the front prop shafts, a design fault. I was told the spline on them can shear rendering the car un movable. if anyone has had this could this be the splines wearing and thats what is causing the 'shunt'.
