Drivers Door inner door seal
Hi,
Has anyone else suffered from this problem.(Sorry if I am repeating a previous question)
My 2007 HSE had a replacement inner door seal fitted about four months ago. Mileage 21,000(Under warranty)
The seal appeared to have perished and split around the door lock area., inall about 9ins. of rubber had just turned to dust.
I first thought that I had trapped the seat belt on closing the door and split the seal, but no. On examination of the new seal a couple of days ago. I noticed that the seal is again wearing away at a very fast rate and will very shortly need replacing.Nothing is foolproof as the ingenuity of fools is endless.

How does the alignment of the door compare with the other side?, ie, does the door sit closer to the seal at this point than on the other front door? I have to admit I have seen a few misaligned doors / front wings on these vehicles, usually new showroom vehicles, and it has totally put me off buying another TBH..... inaccurately thrown together by the unskilled, followed by half asleep Quality Control (he says, quickly ducking).

Inner door seal
Hi DN,
Nope, the door is perfectly aligned, there are no rattles or bangs, or visible movement when travelling. All the bolts are tight. No reason why this should be occurring.
I cannot find any other posts on this subject??

Had mine replace a couple of months ago, 08 plate at 15,000 miles aprox. What i did think, was my jacket etc was rubbing as i got in and out of the vehicle, as the rear, back of the drivers seat sits beyond the door post.ATB

Inner door seal
Thanks Bodsy,
Seems like this is an on going problem. No one seems to come up with aa answer, they just keep replacing seals.

Billy B, just had mine replaced; service guy said there was an issue with a handful of cars where the inner door card pinches the rubber against the door when it's closed; this extra stress at the pinch point can lead to it shredding.
Having said that, can't see any such pinching occurring on mine...Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Hi BillyB, Had mine replaced at 2 years old and 13000 miles. Now at 4 years old and 27000 miles LR Customer service are quick to inform me they will not cover another replacement. Typical.

I too have had mine replaced under warranty. Both the driver and passenger sides were split about halfway up the door.
